Got news today that my old friend and mentor died on Thursday :crying: He'd been battling Cancer for the past three years. Nigel taught me the inner workings of the PC back in the early '90's when the 386DX40 was top of the range! The bloke was a genius when it came to electronics and computers. I remember him coming in drunk one night from a party at the Officers Mess (He was a Flt Lt in the RAF for many years) He sat for two hours and told me exactly where Clive Sinclair could have made a much better ZX Spectrum.

RiP Nigel, you will be sorely missed mate

Sorry to hear that Nigel, unfortunately I'm with you more than you know at the moment. My father-in-law died on Thursday night from pneumonia.

Christmas day he was fine, healthy (As healthy as someone who's had two heart attacks and bowel problems can be that is) and happy. We have little clips of video with him smiling at the kids opening presents and one of him taking his own video of our son opening presents. Boxing day he felt a little sniffly, Monday he spent most of in bed with quite obvious flu, Tuesday he collapsed in the kitchen and was rushed to hospital by ambulance, Wednesday he spiked a fever, which was brought under control, but he'd also gained a serious chest infection, on Thursday he contracted Pneumonia, Thursday afternoon he was sedated to the point of unconsciousness with Morphine and put on a ventilator, we were told he would probably not survive, a few hours later, the Doctor informed us he was turning off the respirator and his drugs, because he had seen no improvement at all and that his heart and lungs were simply too damaged for him to recover.

Norman Ian Ferguson was a NZ Citizen with a Scottish Heritage, aged 61, a volunteer fireman for 17 years, earning him several honours including the Queens Service Medal and had just flown into the UK on December 14th with his wife (My mother-in-law) to start a fresh here with us as one big family. We will all miss him dearly and we share your pain at the loss of a man who served his country and others and died on the same day.

Sorry for both your losses it's always bad but for some reason it's always seems worse this time of the year.

Best wishes to the families

I lost my brother (40) and my dad (66) both to cancer and within 16 months of each other, my brother first, 10 and 11 years ago now, but miss them daily.

I understand how both of you are feeling, sorry for your losses. RIP.

Close neighbour of ours died xmas eve. Damn cancer got her as well.

Sadly chemo seemed to be the nail in the coffin. Happened so fast too.

Sorry for your loss.
