Turbos n stuff

My turbos are smoking under boost, blue smoke lots of CRAP. Has any one tackled replacement themselves how bad a job is it I am a mechanic to trade, is it an engine out job or can it be done in-situ? I am considering hybrid turbos any one have any stories or reccomendations what bhp can I expect running standard internals HKS induction, Mongoose exhaust and have just received breather kit so cats will be getting binned. My car has done 77000 so engine should be fine no Knocks etc

Places like Silvia engineering remove the engine to do the turbos but Hi-Tec do it in the car. Both methods are a lot of work and i believe its very tricky to do it with the engine still in.

Johnny at Grashopper pro sport does good deals on turbo's. If your going to the expence and grief of changing them you might as well go for uprated units.

A few people here have hit around the 430 bhp mark with the usual bolt on mods

You dont have to do anythin if you dont want. you can put uprated blowers on and run standard boost if you like, but if theres a chance you might want to go for really big power in the future with big injectors, intercoolers etc then you will already have the turbos to match.

Shrek,

When you upgrade your turbos it isn't a simple mod like doing say the Pulley, there are millions of different turbos out there you can get depending on the spool up and boost needs of the application they are required for.

You dont really need the uprated turbos to go to stage 3 sure if you can afford them they are a good idea but last time i looked they costed 1700 quid for just 360 thrust and bigger compressor turbine/ in this country now for that money you could almost afford a set of GT2530's at GB price from the states of Japan.

Let us know if you want anymore info on your particular needs and i will try to advice you accordinly - I would suggest you at least take a ride in a stage 3 Z before you commit to anything tho.
