I always wanted to design/make a Z clock or a watch.

But I have too many things to do lately .

Maybe I'll do the watches later in the near future.

Just right click and save this 724x1024px picture and print your own clock face,

Buy a cheap clock disassemble it print the dial on a mat or gloss paper at your desired diameter and install it.

set the arms at 00:00:00 and you can install it .

You could paint the arms orange, use a clock with a brushed SS or aluminum rim to resemble the gauge rings or even install a back-light to it .

I moved the tachometer numbers to line up with the clock numbers.

5 with the 12 , 6 with the 1, 8 with the 3 etc you get the point :-)

some late version models have some red stripes between the 6.5K and 7K .I think DVDBURN could elaborate on this Also the 0 to 1K rpm section is different on some years. But again I don't know which year.

Thanks goes to DVDBURN for providing me some scans.

I would like to see some pictures if you do this project ..I think they would be a great holiday present .

And you could always play with the minute dial to REV your clock ..

Here you go !!

Lol I think he's on about a wall clock!! Not the clock on the zed ?

No need for light if you are making a clock, I have made a clock in the past so I am tempted to do this. Loads of tutorials on youtube on clock making its very easy.

Could always put a back-light on it it would look great at night .

Please don't use my design it for commercial use ..I just wanted to share it so people could DIY .

Thanks

Dave

I know lol, its always the way, you make a comment, go to edit, then the bloody phone rings and before you know it, you make yourself look an arse :tt2:

Before you can finish.

Nice one Dave, i will give this a go.

If you wanted to make your own proper clocks then you would need to make a way

to make the numbers semi transparent to let the light shine through, then make the

rest a blackout.

One way of doing this could be to do a few prints ontop of each other and each of

the blackened areas would be less transparent in each print.

Or

Do your proper print on photo paper and use some sort of black paint and cover the

opposite side of the dial minus the areas that need light to come through.

Just an idea !

Or print onto some frost filter, i have some i use for lighting, lets the light through the white bits and hopefully blank out on the black ink. Will give it a go and see how i get on, then it can be back lit for a nice effect, with some rgb leds.

I just realized that I posted the lower pixel version flickr resized the picture .

I have the 2480x3508version if anyone need it I can send you the file .

you could print it on some acetate used on overhead projectors, lots of normal printers will print to it... the light should? shine through the white bits...
