Right I seem to have developed the issues that seems to relate to the Speed sensor. I loose power steering and speedo at the same time.

Im also wondering is the Hicas error is the same fault? The hicas passes the diag test fine and so not sure what else is the issue.

Also where is the speedo sensor on the manual gearbox. Makes the job a bit quicker.

Thanks

Is your car a Jap or UK?

The problem your are having is normally associated with the the speedo. Dry solder or dodgy kph convertor. Are you still in kph or mph?

Its possible the speed sensor is at fault but i would check the speedo board first.

Agreed, I had similar problems, insofar as I had a set of clocks which went up to 130mph - but it had a dry joint somewhere, and when the speedo didn't work and the needle dropped to zero, the HICAS light would come on and soon after the power steering would stop working.

I got JeffTT to swap the clocks and the problem disappeared.

It is an import. Where will I find the sensor? or is that a seach and find mission.

The Hicas light never goes out when the other 2 work is this still related? How can I bypass the wiring back to KPH to test. Also do I just buy any new converter?

Silly question, but have you checked your power steering fluid level?

Silly question, but have you checked your power steering fluid level?

Not silly but yes after a hicas test originally threw a fluid low level error. The fluid is full and no signs of it leaking.

i have the same prob, speedo dont work, hicas light comes on a loosing power stearing fluid,

if its a dry joing on the board, y would that course the power stearing fluid leak??

power steering leak is usually either the big hose going to thebottom of the pas pot or the high presure line from the pump to the rack (infront of cross member)

to bypass a mph converter you just need to remove the exixting converter and rejoin the old wire, its only 1 wire, yellow i think

it'll be behind the speedo cluster mate, you wont miss it, you can tell it's an aftermarket jobby, will look a bit like this :
