angel eyes

just bought a pair of 70mm smleds as im going 99 spec and dont want fog/side lights

they are a little on the ugly side though and having second thoughts. i know some will think they are naff but i thing they will be good if evecuted well

i was thinking i will either make my own from some clear rod or perhaps just put some clear rod infront of the ring (bent into a ring of course.)

also do i need resistors or as i suspect are they built in.

i need these to look spot on as my car is all about the detail.

on a side note has anyone ever thought about using projectors for the main beams and can you get main beam hid kits?

Firstly ive got halos, and im changing them to leds. Because they are 70mm they fit inside the projector housing, basically inside the reflective ring, so you wont see them when they are off.

The resistors are built onto the board, so plug and play.

Projectors dont give the spread that the high beams produce, ie scatter the light over a broader area, although some modern cars have them, would take some doing to get it to look right. HTH

These are the neon tubes:

chears mate,

the rings ive got are indeed 70mm dia and fit perfectly inside the shoud thing, just looks a bit like a pcb with smleds on.

the projectors were just a bit of an idea dont think i will try till the car is built

Depends where you got them from, the ones i have, you only see the leds on a white ring

The neon tube looks good, but they dont like vibration and ive lost one side. I dont want to be having to take my headlights apart everytime something blows, so leds are more reliable i think for the job.

Having said that, i didnt really secure the tubes in with anything, as they seem a good fit, so maybe vibration from not being secured, by hot glue or whatever may have caused it.
