Does anyone use any sort of prewash when washing your cars? Is there a foam that is applied before you wash it?

I use a snow foam applied with a special pressure washer attachment. It's arguable whether it makes any difference - but i've got it so why not. It does help to loosen the surface dirt.

i use snow foam on my other cars ...havnt got the zed at the moment , trick is buy decent snow foam and let it soak before washing it off ....

Washing down with a hose first, but if you have a pressure washer and a snow foam attachment its great fun as well as very effeicient way get the grit and dust off,no need for a bucket just a wash mitten and no danger of grit/ water contamination.

thanks guys. I have a foam bottle attachment for my pressure washer so will give that a try :)

Show foam best way of removing surface grit etc.

Never use a sponge! They keep the grit in their surface which transfers scratches onto your paint

Always use a cleaning mitt and definately the two bucket method if you want to keep the "cob web" scratches from you paint finish.

bucket 1 = use for rinsing your mitt

bucket 2 = clean soapy water

be warned it can become addictive

For more excellent info.

Depends on the sponge. Don't use a cheap one from Halfords etc but the proper ones are fine.

What H said. Only way IMO.

Yup, many detailers are switching to grouting sponges.

And sowfoam? Its just a Gimick. A really fun great one but a gimick all the same.

Soak the car in water, leave for 5 min then pressure wash and does exactly the same as foaming. Just doesnt look as good or is as much fun lol

I just use the hose to rinse off any mud and shite....

.....then after a thorough soaking, I just wash and rinse as normal (with a decent car shampoo and wash-mit of course).

If it's really dirty or the front of the car is peppered with dead insects, then I make water and car shampoo mix in a garden spray; then give the offending area a squirt. I leave it for a few minutes and then hose it off.

I have also used Turtle Wax Platinum "bug and tree sap remover" in the summer when the dead insects are baked on. It's very good stuff and doesn't strip off any wax protection!! Just spray, leave for a couple of minutes and hose off - then wash as normal....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I've always rinsed the car before washing but obviously water just runs off so doesn't soak dried on dirt, that's why I'm looking at snow foams ;)
