Will my 300 pass its mot if i remove the carbon filter. If not any recomendations of where to get an elimination kit from?

Featured Replies

It will pass the mot anyway if its an import as its not on the mot database and has to be tested as pre cat.

Does that mean I will have to re-fit it every year to get it through the MOT? My car is a UK 1991. I think its ok to leave it de-catted for the MOT due to its age?????

Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Carbon Canistor has nothing to do with exhaust emissions. Im not aware of any elimination kit, its always been a diy job I believe.

As Groover explained and as per Paul's link all pre-95 Z32's are tested as non-cat equipped cars anyway. A Z running correctly will have no problems passing a non-cat Emissions test without cat fitted.

No lol, import and pre 92' UK, are tested as a pre cat.

And as explained in the link Paul has placed up, the Z32 is not on the emissions database.

Note to self..must learn to type faster lol

"if you're lucky enough to own a 1 Aug 1995 on Zed then a default Cat test will apply, which you will prob fail if you De-Cat!"

Mines an N reg so i take it mine wont pass an MOT Decated?

Really not sure what the emission numbers look like on a typical decatted Z.

Perhaps we can get people posting the numbers from previous mots.

Registration, doesnt necessarily denote the year of manufacture. Take a look at the label on the bottom of your seatbelt, under the carpet in the boot and on the plastic rear light covers, there is a date in the moulding, which is closer to the date of manufacture, although the parts might have been made within a few weeks/months of fitting.
