Here's the ad on Pistonheads - any tips on how I might have a bit more success in getting some interest. Not 1 single person has even been to view the car. Please don't say stick 6 months tax on it because sadly I can't magic £112 out my @rse to pay for it :tt2:

Any more tips on the ad? Suggestions where else I might advertise?

I'm not desperate to sell it (ie i'm not taking silly money for it) but I thought I might have had a bit of interest by now....

Personally I think your gonna strugle to get the asking price.

We all know its a lovely example and looks the business, but as a buyer for £3.5k I would want all that and two dirty great turbos attached to the engine.

I think £2.8k would be more realistic.

Its not a nock at the car or the advert or anything other than what I would expect buyers to be thinking.

Sorry.

No need to apologise! All points of view welcome - at the end of the day, any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay on a particular day. Like I said previously, not in a mahhosive rush now I'm not starting a new job in 2 weeks time, I can carry on walking to work and with any luck the car will sell next year and give me enough for a decent daily driver for uni and a small amount of savings. The plan was always to SORN the car over winter anyway, rear wheel drive car, steep driveway, LOTS of snow in the North East, I'd much rather not try it!

I'd say its probably a bit over priced being an NA, the redeeming feature of it being pearl yellow means, in the current climate, it would probably sell for the same as another colour in the same spec to someone who understood how rare it is...but there are other people out there who just wouldn't want to be seen in a yellow car - rare or not, which narrows your potential market slightly.

You have an idea how much its worth because you know what you paid for it. I remember a thread before you put it up for sale when people were saying 'its worth x amount all day long' and you were saying you didn't think you'd get anywhere near that...but I see that thread has been 'cleaned up' now for the sale.

All merely my opinion and not meant to offend :flowers:

Dont go dropping your price, stick to it, you've said yourself that you're not desperate to sell, trust me there will be many people looking at your car wishing they could buy it now.

My advice is this... just let the ad run out and expire, then readvertise in the new year at your original asking price.

The fact that it's a n/a at 3.5k is totally irrelevant, the price is a reflection on the cars condition, if you go reducing the price people may think thats all it's worth and it's a rotter.

Keep your price, a potential buyer may think he or she is getting a bargain if they knock you down a few hundred quid, and you'll still be taking 3k or more for a nice example of a swb slicktop n/a zed.

Think you should have a look at this....

I know what I'd rather spend MY money on... and it aint yellow - sorry.

That said this car has been advertised well over a month now, so thats probably indicative of the market now. Stick to your guns on price - just don't expect to sell any time soon. You will NEVER sell a car that no-one can test drive, unless its a breaker... How about £50 for your chin extension, bumper sticky on thingy wotsit?

Thing is though thats a LWB car, not a slicktop - a massive consideration when comparing the cars. Although I admit that that particular car (despite its awful steering wheel) looks like a bargain on a 98 plate... Thats if it is actually a 98 model car. Cant see much to suggest for or against it, although in the shots with the doors open i would have expected to see the seatbelts against the B pillars but possibly not. Also a black nose badge, later cars have red badges (although that may have reverted bck to black for the 98/99)

Yeah, you're right.

I thought that was a slicky..

How did i miss the targa panels? knew it looked to well-proportioned to be a SWB:lol:

If you look at one pic you can see the old 'R reg' plate, so looks pucker enough year-wise. However, I'd be surprised it the bolsters on the drivers seat had worn after only 40k miles. Mine are fine on a '95 plate with 70k.

Still good value if someone was looking for a clean project car or summits.

I withdraw my '...and it wouldn't be yellow' comment..

Yeah, you're right.

Yeah I can see the R plate, its not uncommon for a car to be registered incorrectly, i think somewhere there is an 03 reg zed running around as its year of import was accidently put down as its year of first registration. Only real way to tell is to check the seats belts and or boot trims as they each have manufacture date stamps.

Also with seats being so easy to change its easily possible that cars will get different seats. Mine is on its 3rd set since I have known it! Original manual S4 cloth, earlier twin electric S2 blue cloth and installed soem S1/S2 leather single electric (cant tell series) lol
