Rot is a biggy. Check the rear sills, tailgate, engine bay. Bring something to jab the sills as someone may have covered it up with filler.

This one of mine looked 99% perfect when I bought it

on the low side of £3000, It needs to be a Twin Turbo UK model (import insurance is a killer)

Should get a tidy one for that money, check on the insurance as some people don't charge extra for imports.

(I'm 21 in 9 day) best quote i've had is £977 from Admiral (although is £500 more until the day i'm 21) but for the Import was more like £2k, the one I'm looking at is a 1990 FSH Manual

Shop round, do a search on here for 'insurance' for some names.

Cheers for that, so is it pretty much rust that kills them? what mechanical things go wrong and how should I look / listen out for on a viewing / test drive?

Im under classic insurance. I was told you need to be 25 for it, but i spoke to a fella who was 21 and had classic insurnace, so shop around.

Although, £977 for a 21 year old isn't bad...

Look for smoke, bad starting and rot. Anything else you'd expect when buying a car too.

I was with admiral till they wanted to start humping price up so went to elephant cheap on my import gto

For a 21 year old on a twin turbo i think anything under a grand is a decent price :)

That red one looks spot on mate. really nice looking car :)

Thanks for the help!

Also do any of you use their 300ZX as a daily driver? and whats it like to live with?

What sort of MPG do you get on a long motorway 'economy' run?

Thanks

I use the zed as my primary car but not for travelling back and forth to work. just too damn expensive on feul. round town ie 30 limits and traffics lights etc i get around 15 to 19 and on the motorway and fast country lanes i get about 25. mines an auto tt. i believe manual tts are a little better on fuel. and n/as are better round town but worse at motorway speeds.
