Did your place of work stop for two miniutes at 11 Oclock for remembrance? I work in a school and there was a special assembly for the kids and staff at eleven were two miniutes of silence was held and you could of heard a pin drop. Least we forget.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

Tried to but I work in a hospital, so the phones kept ringing and the patients kept being poorly...

What can I say but great words friend

Got into a bit of a disagreement over the 11 o clock silence this morning. I was checking progress on a building project. The workmen had the radio on and all of them kept the silence, standing still. Except for two young lads walking by talking, giggling and generally being obnoxious. They thought we should ‘get over it and move on’. Remember these words, I quoted almost word for word.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,

Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow,

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

They smirked and went on their way, probably thinking what a nutter. Couldn’t be bothered taking it any further, their loss.

Good work mate you did well. A good few years ago I marched across the Albert hall in the Festival of Remembrance.

My whole camp stopped today for the 2mins. Parade and service on Sunday wearing the ginger drinking suit, will raise a glass or 10 to those who made the greatest sacrifise.

Important to remember all conflicts however not just the 2 world wars.
