You say 'when the heating is on'... so does it do this when the heating is off?

I assume you mean Air-Con?

Also, welcome to the club, and congrates on buying a Zed :D

Common issue that usually easy to correct, base idle is most likely too low, the throttle balance out and even possibley the timing retarded.

It always best to get this checked out on a ConZult diagnostic system as it saves hours of time but you kind of live in a far, far away place, not sure of there any other members on here with a ConZult that live by you, you could always buy the cheaper version on E-bay and post some screen shots of the results and we can help you through any adjustments.

Here is an example of what I mean

firstly welcome and congrats on your purchase.

ive got a owners handbook if thats what you are looking for . get yourself subscribed mate and enjoy all the benefits . best £20 you will spend on your zed.

Rec = recirculating (just cycles the air in the cabin)

Econ = Air conditioning

Off = Off

Auto = it does it its self as long as you don't touch anything. including airflow, But you need Auto on, to be able to self adjust airspeed using the fan speed settings. low - medium (lights off at the fan speed control) and high, also if Auto is on, the moment you self adjust any settings, you have put it into manual mode even though there are no controls to adjust the airflow (should still do this automatically) but you will have to adjust air temp and speed your self.

Then the obvious front screen demist button, to clear the windscreen.

and temperature set controls

There are two other air control pods though for the zed, one has a turn dial on for airflow control, with sliders for heat adjustment.

The other has a digital air direction control, usually called series two pods, that will also need the ECU if you can find some available and upgrade yours.

Hope that helps.

I had this prob - it was the air con compressor had seized. I just took the fuse out and just run it on auxillary heating now and its all fine

if you press auto and econ this turns the air con off and uses conventional heater. you will notice the revs drop when you press the econ button

ah ok this helps a good bit been driving about making sure the air con is off and the z has been driving spot on... going to check over the engine with a mechanic tommorow just to check the pipes etc,... ( i think someone has put rubber heat protection over them all ) and see how i get on from there... apparently the car had new turbos fitted this year so hopefully will find out tommorow how they look aswell.

il upload pics as soon as i figure it out ha =) thanks again for the posts guys and i look forward to sharing some z fun with ya all

Its possible that the car has once had a motorised screen head unit fitted, often people fit switches so that they will only work when the hand brake is ON (so as to stop you watching it as your driving) However if its had a conventional head unit fitted it could be something slightly wrong with the wiring there? Just a guess!

yeh that was my thought with the handbrake thing but its the actual volume that stops working when the handbrake is pulled up its a weird one some eejit must have tied up the wrong wires.... anyway strip down today =)

am i right in saying these cars have a seperate "turning light" when you put on the indicator? as if i put on left indicator a type of fog light comes on with it on the side of the car.

On some models, they had a curb light, so when you indicate a white light in the same housing comes on, which is supposed to help see round corners lol. Lights the curb if there is one.

quality technology away ahead of its time...

ok cd player is now sorted wiring was re dun.

now new problems when in drive mode car will set at 1k revs and slightly move up and down... put it into park or nuetral and it goes up to 1.5... tried to sort it by moving what i think is the icv at the left throttle body? but it just changes the problem without sorting it. gave the maf sensor a clean aswell

iv noticed today that my boost guage ( standard one ) goes from -7 to 0 to + 7

on idle the needle is halfway between the -7 and 0.. should this not be at -7 the whole time

I read somewhere that your boost gauge showing that could mean boost leaks or compression faults but my stock gauge also does that and my aftermarket one always stays at -20 when idling?

  • Author

but why do some cars show -14 0 and +14 and some show -7 0 and + 7

surely this would mean two different boost allowances?

uk models show -14 to +14 and jap models show -7 to +7 .

they both have the same boost levels but use different measurements .

  • Author

aaah ok i see... just weird how they are different figures thats all

mines doesnt sit completely at -7 on idle so must be a boost leak somewhere?

Jeez nurse!! you sure are the best!:drool:
