Starting the wheels.......

As you can see the wheels are in a bit of a state, mainly because they are laquered and water has got under it!

The good news is they are save-able with a bit (lot!) of work, this is the first one,240 grit to 800 and bloody sore fingers!:sweatdrop:

Just started to buff it tonight but got too dark -if they all get to this stage I'll be chuffed as I love the rims.Oh! and I Won't be laquering them!

im going to be doing mine sometime over the winter but might just pay someone to do them for me lol massive improvement on yours though mate good work

well done mate ! i think you have worked wonders so far , a bit of advice here from someone whose got the t-shirt . tape your fingers up to protect them and if you can fit a flap wheel in a drill to do the worst of the work . when uve finished stick loads of resin wax on them to protect all your hard work .

walk through lol come on post it up.

Cheers guys i can honestly say i dont want to do it again.

its the laqure. and its a real pita.

I just did it all by hand and i had mega sore fingers, The hard bit was between the rim and the spoke. I had to use wet and dry on the end of a tea spoon lol!!!

went from 400's down to 1500's then autosol and 6 layers of wax, took a day per wheel and i was really fekin bored

I have seen people do it the same way i have done, but jacked the car up and started the engine so the wheels turn and all you have to do is hold the wet and try there. nice and easy

Im trying the Youtube way Tomorrow!

:sneaky2::ph34r:

Yeah will work a treat on your wheels. I wanted to do it to mine but it would rip my fingers off :innocent:

I feel your pain, i was trying to wash mine the other day, but because i have the bolts that hold the split in place, feckin hurts like hell when you catch your fingers on them (with out the jack up and rotate trick lol)

Last one is going to work so the Tyre can come off. Got some curbing to sort!:ninja:

Christ man that must have taken ages, and with sore fingers.

I've been there, done that and got the T-shirt with repairing cheap alloys.

I'd have had them lathed, cheap and quick.

All wheel refurbishers can do that.

If you're not going to laquer them again (good idea not to!) then you need to apply wheel wax regularly to the bare alloy once a week over the winter, otherwise it'll grey.

If they do grey then get some Autosol on there to restore that polished look.
