import zx

Featured Replies

It is restricted, by the speedo, basically will only manage 112mph. You can buy a kph to mph convertor, attach to the rear of the dash, splice into the speed sensor feed and you will be delimited. Or change the resistor R10 on the board.

The other way is to purchase a set of UK clocks and or have the ECU chipped. HTH

my zx was imported in 2005,is it jap restricted,if so how do i de-restrict it?

I think all Jap imports are llimited - mine has been delimited by replacing the ECU with a chipped one by John Dixon on here. Made a huge difference, money well spent

Uk clocks will get rid of the speed limiter, stage 3 chip= nothing if its still limited :whistling:

The stages refer to the mods carried out, ie, exhaust, manifolds, air intake, uprated, injectors, turbos. The stage settings can be a bit misleading and open to interpretation to who is selling it.

The car would need to be mapped to suit the mods you have and done by a pro, like John Dixon.

If the ecu is chipped it would have also been de restricted as part of the mapping.

when I got mine it was de-restricted but still had km/h clocks...

you don't need to see the needle off the scale to know you're goin fast and you can always work out your actual speed from the gearing and engine revs if needs be.

I did however get them converted (eventually) by Jeff and Jamie at Zedworld. About £80 if I remember.

It might seem odd, but the japs have an interesting approach to many things automotive - very different culture.

If the chip has a map which has raised the limit, then you should be fine, are you sure its not already de restricted?

It would be best to get the car on consult ( diagnostics) to tell what chip its fitted with, will also tell you if it is restricted or not.

the guy i bought it from said it was chipped to suit the mods ie induction kit,de-cat exhaust, uprated turbos etc so am suspecting like you say it is probably de-restricted anyway.cheers daren.

sorry for the hijack but groover, is it the R10 resistor on the back of the cluster? what do you change it to? does that convert it from from kph to mph? mine is playing up, would rather do it proper than fit another converter effort.....

I have another method on another hard drive, will post it up later, going to bed now lol

Someone posts a question at 4am and you are there Graham with an answer 16mins later - amazing :winkiss: what commitment to the club :thumbup:
