Autobox challenge

A simple autobox replacement a couple of weeks go went wrong from the offset, the customer wanted to supply his own unit he had purchased on ebay and packed into his zed and set off .

However with his limited gears the engine was revving high for the relative road speed and soon an additional problem with a leaking water pipe forced him to stop and call the AA, they dually recovered the car off to us the following day.

However when we removed the replacement gearbox from the boot we were shocked how someone could sell a gearbox in such a bad state.

All the external sensors where missing, as was the dipstick, the shift lever assembly, no torque convertor and worse of all wiring loom had been cut off close to where it enters the gearbox. Fortunately we had a good unit on the shelf with a torque convertor so was able to quickly complete the job along with a new heater matrix pipe.

So the moral of this tale is that some people do not have any morals, £150 for a useless gearbox, be careful when buying from ebay or where ever, especially if it is something you not familiar with.
