I have a nice auto TT and have just bought a not as nice manual TT with a good gearbox in it, 1 year old uprated clutch and light flywheel for a grand (engine is not great) in order to do a manual conversion on my auto. Is it worth swapping my turbo's for the slightly bigger turbo's off the manual TT if they are in good nick? Also considering the labour might cost a few hundred quid more if i do this.

 

Will be selling the rest of the manual TT in bits and will subscribe as a full member so i can sell on here.

Not worth it in the slighest mate, there is very little difference to be had and the cost of fitting far outways it, big time!

the slightly smaller tubs on the auto will spool up quicker giving a slight (if noticeable at all) acceleration improvement, but at the slight loss of top end power so its up to you - I'm leaving my Auto tubs on as lets be honest when do we ever get to the top end?

Everytime you accelerate hard. Top end power refers to high rpm / Peak power , not top speed.

 

but as said the difference is small and not worth worrying about.

On a standard car there is a 20hp difference between the Auto TT and Manual TT, however this is also partly due to Cam differences between the Auto and Manual engines.

 

I've driven a lot of Auto TT's after converting them to Manual and I cant say I noticed specific differences between them and original manual TT's that I would put down to the Turbos/cams. At 15-20yrs old, condition and other factors make more of a noticeable difference.
