I'm doing a clean up and service of my spare engine before it goes into my zed.

The engine has been in storage for over a year and I've never done engine work before so I have a few questions

1. Can anyone recommend a good "liquid gasket" for when I fit the inlet outlet pipes, water pump etc? SORTED

2. What type of gear puller will I need to pull the crank pulley off?

3. The sprockets have some surface rust on them (see pic). Are they fubar'd and need replacing or can they be cleaned up?

4. If they can be cleaned; can I take them off without shaggin up the timing, if I do one at a time and ensure the belt hasn't moved, or am I being naive?

I will be replacing the cam belt as well, but engine timing is a black art to me

5. I'm also doing an EGR delete, does anyone make the plates to cover the holes left in the plenum?

any help would be great

i wouldent risk touching the belt yourself if you havent a clue? or at least revise like hell from the "how to" manuals. at least its a little easier with the engine out at least

Which they wont, backplate marks are for Ref' only-look here,

Egr plates are easily made from a bit ally plate,2mm would do.

As for sealer,Rhondaseal if you can still get it,Brilliant stuff!:chinese:

I'll be following the service manual and Jeff's guide very closely when doing the belt, so should be ok :hammer:

czp makes an egr delete kit.

But blanking plates can easily be made up yourself either with a steel or aluminium plate.
