Does the lack of rear fog light on my jap Z affect my next MOT? Some people think yes, some no. Any ideas?

If it does then I was thinking about getting a uk spec rear bumper and then just wiring the fog lamp in.

I think it's a legal requirement here.

I have the inner pair of brake lights wired as fogs.

Hi,

Yes! My import failed the mot last month on the lack of rear brake lights.

I took the car to an auto electrician, who wired up the inner two rear brake lights as fog lights...they still come on as side lights though.

He wired them through the front fog switch, so that I don't have a nasty looking switch inside the car.

As long as you don't mind only having 3 rear brake lights...instead of five......It is a neat way of doing it.

If you know your electronics then the inner brake lights can be wired up to act as fog lights but, when switched off, still act as normal brake lights. It needs about 5 diodes.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough but know a mechanic / electrician who does. He's near Crawley, West Sussex - feel free to get in touch if you want his number.
