Especially when I have been driving quite hard the back of my car gets a film of oil/fuel?? over it. I have had the cats removed, would this make a difference? What exactly is this film I am seeing?

mine will around the exhaust but over time not straight away, it used to get coated instantly. Get it on a wideband air/fuel meter see how its running.

I get that too I know mine is running a bit rich will get it on a co machine 1 day ! Dont know what it should be set to though.

i suspect most of the zeds will chuck out a bit of black soot, it dosent help when you own a white car though, you'd notice it easier.
