Noise when pulling away

When you pull away, it only happens when pulling away the first time off the drive btw. Anyway there is a wierd noise, its an electric motor sound for about 3/4 of a second coming from the back (drivers side I think).

 

Any ideas what it is? Is it normal?

    Mine does the same. I *think* it is the HICAS pump at the rear wheels. Could be wrong so don't quote me on this. Mine only does it when I turn the steering wheel btw. If pulling out straight it doesn't make a sound!

    yeah the same here, pulling off the drive = turning almost full lock.

    It could be the ABS self test, I think this happens when you first hit 6mph? (from memory).
