Does anyone know of any? ive seen a few on youtube and would be interested in doing one/two, just to feel the full potential of my car without too much risk, and find the actual top speed!

im typically looking for a top speed event, pretty much anywhere in the UK i've seen Bruntingthorpe do one, but cannot find any info on days/dates.

Couldn't find any info either, did find this number though - try giving em a bell. I've been over to Bruntingthorpe a couple of times, just out of curiosity - never been on the runway tho. I'd be well up for a run, so if you have any luck let us know...

0116 247 8030 - Bruntingthorpe proving ground:phone:

I did 166 in my tt on my na box (on 'an' airfeild) but I bottled it and slowed down probably had a bit more to go, I'm sure a tt box should go much further

i take it, it wasnt an 'airfield' as its unmentioned. we can all do stupid things on the motorway when their clear, but i choose not to rish my safety or others, hence wanting to do it on a proper facility. its really not worth it on the motorway as its so f*kin dangerous, and you will not have enough road/ smooth surface to generally get the top speed. just for some bragging rights, no thanks.

LEO- been there on a trackday for my birthday, drove a lambo gallardo and a ferrari 430 was AMAZING, lovely track and a beautiful straight. got them both past 160mph comfortably.

but want to try the Z, its quite well modded, and would love to know its actual top end.

no chance - not without paying and having a very quick car (much quicker than stock/stage 1) will you see the potential of your car on a track. Sadly it's just the way it is... You'd have to travel to an overseas oval test track. Or find a motorway with no speed limit, or at least one you can't see..

Fantastic mr presumptuous! Lol! No a motorway wasn't where my 166 location, my freind works for 'a reputable aircraft manufacturer' that has a runway availabe, however this wasn't above board as the bosses turned a blind eye for the afternoon, hence why I can't really mension where when or who my freind is... Is that ok? Sigh.

Bruntingthorpe has a 2 mile straight right?

If a Lambo and a Fezza can do 160+ I imagine your Zed should hit a similar speed. Which diff are you running standard or N/A? Shame its not an auto, cos from what I understand they have the tallest gearing and would give it more to pull at.

I'm not sure about my car - after 6500rpm its pretty much out of puff, so thats 156mph theoretically, would hope it will do more than that but really its not important - I'm never gonna use that speed regularly..

I lose my balls at 175-180mph.. the front starts to feel unsteady at that speed and almost like there's a hint of lift. - could be tyres, could be aero.. I acctually have 3 very, very long straights near where I live, 1 is public but a single-track bridge with miles and miles of visibility, 2 of which are private and well tarred and you can easily see the top speed of a car - but if a mistake happens it's only myself to blame at the end of the day and I have a lot to lose so I tend to keep it to once in a very blue moon! Still some to go though, I'm sure with a downhill and tailwind 190-195 could be reached on the limiter - so perhaps 185 real mph?

jesus, 175 on a public road? i know it will sound very boring and grown up but thats so not worth doing. the danger to others and yourself, plus the fact thats a go straight to jail do not pass go ticket. i like going fast as much as the next man. your life. not preaching just saying.

Like I say it's single track, in the middle of nowhere, wide as hell, and the only danger to others is seagulls or whales which decide to jump over the bridge lol. It's desolate with miles of visibility.. at any rate, I didn't say I did 175 on that road, just the private ones. I'm all for safe driving don't get me wrong most of my life is spent at 50mph and the only speeding offense I have is doing 34mph exiting a 30mph into a nat. speed limit from 5 years ago. Now and again though everybody has the urge to see what their car can do - and for me travelling 300-400+ miles to do it isn't financially viable.

In reply to Coolq my car is running 15-16psi on stock engine, intake and decats/exhaust, ecu tune.

manual twin turbo - not sure what revs, probs around the start of the red lines. It's been quite a while since.

ps. i dont condone speeding - i dont go out racing people and i dont speed except in the very exceptional cirucmstance where I'm the only individual in a long distance unless on a private road with other guys and permission. By the way Leo your 300 looks lush!!

i was working on the car the other day and a police man who had sat in his car watching the passing traffic from our car park, eventually got out and came over too me, and asked "is it fast?" to which i replied "i wouldn't know officer" lol

Firstly thank you! (It looks even better now with the little tweaks I've made - will have to update my profile pics)

As for top speed runs, so far I've not had the bottle to top 140mph. I've got a wee nick in the sidewall of my tyre and whilst I'm sure its fine at normal speeds I don't wanna risk a high speed blow out.

I think if you use common sense in these situations you should be alright. Unfortunately I don't know any private roads in my area, but the M69 is a good straight piece of tarmac - late at night its deserted, so if you wanted to you could pretty safely Vmax there. I wouldn't recommend it, but as you rightly pointed out, most of us will at some point have the urge to get the boot down.

As long as you don't risk anybody else's life then I'm cool with that. If you get caught, expect not to drive again for a long time!!

This air field idea is a good idea though - who else has done one?

i very much doubt i'm ever going to go faster on a public road than i did in my old 306 - which was an indicated 120mph on the M48. The top speed of a zed is deep into license loosing and ban territory, its just not worth the risk.

Find an airfield trackday with a long straight and do it there (try Motorsport Events).

Or just concentrate on the numbers that matter - how quickly can you do the standard 50-90 overtaking move?

An ex member Chunk took his modded TT shorty down Bruntingthorpes straight and hit 186mph measured on a sat nav !!!!

Iv just found out iv done 150mph on a public road LEAGALLY! Ask me how!

You shagged a bird copper and she's given you a shot of the fezwagon?

Bruntingthorpe, among many other things, do a one-day charity event for a particular charity that my previous employer was involved with. myself and a few other members from here have attended three or four of them, but its by invite only and sadly (or rather happily for the charity) the day has become so popular that the lowly 300ZX can't find a spot any more.

wasn't there a clip that you took Al with Chunk drifting his biatch around the track at Brunters?

Up until august the a555 bramhall to handforth bypass was the only road in the uk that didn't leagally have a speed limit, 15 years it's been like that, it was in the paper, google it!!!!

What was done to it, do you know?

I don,t bud :hammer::hammer:
