im looking for the pro,s and cons with polyurethane bushes over oem bushes .ive gotta replace the front anti-roll bar bushes to start with and have a good look at all others and replace as necessary . my way of thinking is nissan put rubber on them in the first place even though polyurethane was available when zeds were being made . mines only used on the road .

have any of you guys had experience with new rubber bushes and polyurethane . im looking for a comparison between the two as im not too sure which way to go at the moment

Poly bushes are cheaper than oem, almost half the price. Poly bushes wont leak and should give a sturdier feel to the front end, especially under braking.

Mine need doing and im going for poly, but its entirely up to you.

i think for applications such as the arb bushes and perhaps the inner front arms poly bushes are great. however for the tension rods i would stick to either oem or rose jointed arms, they not only have to rotate but they also need to twist, the poly bushes are too hard for this and can tear other suspension components.

 

i have poly bushed several of my cars before and generally the results were great with only a little extra road noise/vibration.

 

However i would not recomend doing the rear suspension. i replaced all the bushes in the rear of my 200sx which has the same rear end as the 300, im not sure if it was the bushes or the general design but it made the ride apauling making the suspension way too stiff. the back end has a very complex arangement with 4 arms per side (if you include the hicas) all of the upper bushes are designed to flex and replacing them with poly bushes effectivly locks up the rear suspension. its the springs and dampers that are suposed to damp/shock absorb and the poly bushes do not let it do its job.

 

This is of course just my experience and others may disagree.

 

however if you do want to tighten up (not stiffen up) the rear suspension i would advise using some aftermarket arms with spherical bearings. these however will be harsher.

Sorry bud i misread your post. The anti roll bar bushes can be replaced with either, they literally hold the bar in place. I would use OEM drop links though, i had some whiteline drop links, but the place that fitted them, didnt grease the rose joints and within a week banged and rattled, so i replaced with oem.
