Hi I'm adam I'm 21 from sussex,

I've been on this forum for a fair bit of time now in terms of when i registered, anyway, i'm currently part of ffoc (ford focus owners club) and i Love my focus, don't get me wrong, its a great chassis and has very good potential, the plan was to do a cosworth rwd conversion, but that will take alot of time and money and also increases the % of something going wrong....:(

I Absolutely see potential in a 300zx and i have always loved them, but 3.0 V6 TT.....i'm 21 and i don't think i'd get insured. The BIG issue for e is that by the time i'm old enough to get one in 4 -5 years, they will become rare and fade out.....that would really F**** it up for me, i see in these cars a 110% clear potential but.......no cigar :(

any ideas?

and if you do not mind me asking, How old are you guys and (maybe) gals?

thanks all

Hi and welcome to the club. We have a wide range of age groups, with some your age.

You are too young i think to get the classic car insurance, i think you have to be 25, but dont quote me on that. Have a shop around for some quotes, you might get a better deal TPFT, and limited mileage. HTH

Welcome! theres quite a few people on here that had a Z at 21, I got mine when I was 22, was £800 to insure. UK model (group 18) as opposed to import TT (group 20).

Try Lyndhurst insurance, lots of people are with them, ask them about a classic policy.

yeh im only just 24 dont pay stupid money. just gotta shop about i know trhers a fair few members in their early 20s

23! paying £670 fully comp with Admiral Multicar.

Not tempted by a beginners rwd car first? cheaper to insure a mr2 or mx5 or something for a year or two, build up the no claims a bit?

Welcome to the club, but as many have said already, shop around is your best bet, check ebay get a number plate of one that takes your fancy and do a few car insurance quotes, get a idea of what kind of price your going to be looking at for insurance.

Welcome mate, insurance is easily doable if you shop around. I had my first one at 20, and then this one at 23 with an M3 evo in the middle. I pay around £700 for mine but it is an import, also that is third party fire and theft. Does help with the relative low value of alot of these cars!

A member on here, murt, was almost 6 when he first insured his zed... lol Well 18 or so but some rediculasly young age!

I was 20 when i insured my Zed, it was £1330 for 10 months with Elephant, the reason i got that was because of my area (i live in a good area/ rarely crimes etc) and i had 2 years no claims :)

Good luck hunting dude.

Really?? I though you were younger than that when you first had your zed dude. I think mine was about a grand for the first year.

alrite mate, im 25 but ive been banned for 5 years (lol) and my insurance was £1500 fuklly comp so you prob wuldnt pay much different to that

Welcome mate, good to see another Worthing member, there is a few of us local to you. Good luck with your search, if you need anyone to look over a zed, just let me know.

stu

as for insurance adrian flux seem to be pretty good for young drivers with high performance cars

either that and im not condoning this for a secon...buy a banger for £50 and insure it for fully comp..including driving anything then you can drive it you wont accure ncb on the car but itll allow you to drive it

sorry if this one;s slightly illegal methods but it works i had to do this with my mitsi lancer

Its only 3rd party, and unless the car is in someone else's name your not covered.

am goin bak a few years since i done that but it works(have to spesify all cars youll pay a bit more but you can drive anyfin)

You wernt covered when you did that, and you wouldnt be now. A policy has to be held on the "other car" for it to be driven "3rd party" on your own insurance. If that worked everyone would do it ;)

You might not have been caught but should anything have happened then you would have had no insurance on the "other car" and therefore driving illegaly. You wouldnt be able to tax the car anyway as you need insurance to tax it...

correct, you would only be insured third party and the zed would have to be insured by sum 1 to be on the road. you be getting pulled over left right and centre otherwise if its anyway like here. so realsitically you would be paying two car insurance premiums. yeh car insurance is expensive esp for people our age, but it will get even more expensive if you get caught without. shop about you will get insurance for around a grand, which works out about 10 notes a month thats two nights out in twon so ey not too bad :D its the petrol that will kill you if your using it daily :D

I was only 20 when i got mine, 1 years ncb (license since 18) fully comp was about 1500. My last renewal cost 750 fully comp with 2 years ncb. Have a shop around, you should be able to get a decent(ish) quote.

Also, the any vehicle cover wouldn't work as its got to be in someone elses name and insured by them to cover you 3rd party. Not to mention that every insurance company i've tried recently for either of my cars or bike all require you to be 25 now to offer any vehicle cover.
