Hi guys my Z is poorly, fitted an HKS induction kit last weekend great , but my car has started to pink under boost at around 3000 rpm upwards car also has mongoose exhaust fitted but otherwise standard my mate also says under hard accel black smoke comes out of exhaust closely followed by FLAMES from the drivers exhaust please shed some light before I melt a piston!

that does not make any sense.

what boost you running?

black smoke = running rich (fuel)

flames = running very rich

 

whic in turn means how are yu deting at that rpm if you are running that rich.

what is your timming?

I know it makes no sense, standard boost stock guage shows 14 approx car feels extremely fast since HKS, could be in head, cant understand flames one side only plus if running rich should O2 sensors not lean off mixture?

Do an ECU test.

 

Did you correctly recconect the Air Volume meter connection at the intake, although this should not produce flames!

 

Stock boost, and yet your guage reads 14!? First - what units is your guage in? Either way, it shouldn't be at 14 - that's hard over to the right hand side right?

 

Check all the vacuum hoses under the bonnet for leaks/disconnected hoses. I have a feeling one of the vacuum hoses to the wastegates has come off and one turbo is boosting at full whack..

 

And one side could quite easily run rich - only one MAF but two cylinder banks rememebr. If the MAF says xxx amount of air is coming in, it assumes that half that goes to one side, half to the other. If you had a big enough boost leak on one side, it would effectively run very rich.. I believe anyway..
