Well, in the past week I finally purchased a car I have craved for a while, a 996 911.

I haven't posted on here for a long time, but I still lurk around reading posts. My point in posting was to just say that I shall be raising a glass this evening to....................................... the Z32. Yes that is right! When I sat in the car and drove it, do you know what the first thing was that came into my head? "This feels just like the Z!" and I grinned ear to ear. The 911, feels to me, almost identical to the way my old Z drove, it even smells the same lol. The seats are very similar, the handling is very similar, the steering, the power, the gear box, pretty much everything I can think of reminds me of being in my old Z! It's led to me digging out some old pictures of the girl and remembering the good times I had with her. I can honestly say that I could easily think that I am still driving my old Z.

I've had a lot of different cars, sports and family over the past years since she went, and I can honestly say, that the benchmark out of everything (even the e36 M3 I had some years ago) was the Z. It's a true testiment to these motors that the first thing I thought of when I got in the new motor was that it felt like the Z and had to live up to the standard of it.

So without any more bullshit, here is to the 300, and to all you guys still on here keeping them alive congrats - continue to do so because it really is a special motor, and once they are gone, they will be gone forever, so please keep them alive!

Cheers,

Steve

You just reminded me of that VW golf advert thats doing the rounds on tv, "here that? When the door closes it sounds like a Zed?"

Here here though, ill raise my glass to that, although Nissan originally designed and made the Zed to go toe to toe with porsche and the lower end Ferrari's.

"here that? When the door closes it sounds like a Zed?"

The zed is by far the best car i have been in but its far from stock. would love to drive a stock one

lol @ the advert.

If I have enough spare cash and space in the future I would love to get another Z, just to have it to keep really. The old 300's have pretty much all but died, it's proof of what the future could hold for the Z32 if clubs like this weren't around.

Unfortunately though, I think all of my spare cash is going to have to go towards keeping my new toy on the road lol. Thankfully it is not a daily driver though, so it shouldn't be getting too much wear.

I have looked around on and off for a while, and for the price some Z's go for now they are an absolute bargain, a super car for not a great deal. But you have to be careful with so many neglected cars out there, people just buying them and not having the time or resource to maintain them properly and just flogging them on. In the end sadly they end up on a scrap heap :(

There are the ones such as those on this forum though that do dedicate a lot of time and money to these cars, I know of a few guys on here that probably could have bought my new motor twice over with the amount they have devoted to their Z's - now that is dedication for you.

I admit, a few choice mods such as suspension, tastefull rims and a bit of de-spoilering goes a long way on a Z. I'm not a fan of the stock spoiler or wheels at all, nor larish body kits, but that is just my opinion (each to their own) but the Z can easily be transformed for not a great deal looks wise into a bit of a stunner. Talking about the feel of it and the drive however, it really does feel great as standard.

Engine wise, my old Z was running around 360hp, and eventually between Jay, Stewart and myself ended up running closer to 500 (before it's demise through no fault of our own, but that's another story...). It really did go like a rocket, but with high power comes high maintenance....

Like for like though, there really isn't much in it I would say between the feel of these two great cars...

Thanks Richard, I may start posting more soon, so watch out! ;)

I'll get some pics up as soon as the sun comes out - we were promissed 23 degrees here and sunshine today, needless to say it was grey and cold!

If she proves to be anywhere near as solid and reliable as the Z then I will be a very happy man :)

Cheers,
