Do an H.P.I check,piece of mind for £15 :thumbup1:

Is this the Rover 400 shape with the V6?

Parts = Some problems, and will be getting more and more difficult to obtain.

KV6 Engine = Loads of overheating problems! Whether they are the older ones or the later type, they still overheat, unless the head has had the upgraded head gasket fitted, but that's no guarantee.

I would still H.P.I it mate, don't want two MG's for the price of one LOL!:scared:

yep your right ive just been on the owners club a lot of 1800 have head problems but not a lot about the v6,

i need to make a decision by tomorrow morning and i just dont know, i miss the power of the zed but owning another would be crazy and id only settle for a tt, so was looking for something that still makes me grin and is reasonably cheap?

yes it is the ebay number on the one i drove is this 300472398134

the guy told me it jumps out of rerverse sometimes but i couldnt get it to do that ,i would post a link or pics but i dont know how to do that

Well it looks OK, but I would be worried about the gearbox. You would have a few choices there....

1) Fit a new box = Cost prohibitive.

2) Fit a Recon box = Could also be cost prohibitive.

3) Fit a used box = Cheaper, but you don't know the history, and you'd have to find someone cheap to fit it (Unless you're handy in that way)

Personally I'd say forget it, as you don't know how the gearbox is going to affect it once you've parted with your hard-earned. It may be perfectly OK, but you never know.

If it's the ZS you like, I'd look at putting some more to what you have a look elsewhere.

looked at allsorts of other cars before but didnt really fancy any of them ,

thought about a v6 vectra and had a mondeo st24 but it want my cup of tea

any other suggestions

If you're really worried, and cheeky enough. Then a head gasket 'sniffer' will find any aggros and they are only about £30.Dead easy to use too....

Of all the cars you have mentioned, (MG, ST24 and Vectra) it seems you are aiming at the very chepeast bang for buck car you can get. All three of these cars are about as desirable as getting raped by foxes.

I would recommend looking for a cheap MR2 anything from G-reg onwards gets you the nicely shaped one. The engines are bullet-proof and they put all three of the cars you mentioned to shame. I have seen a G-reg G-Limited for £750 with TnT in the past, these cars have about 170bhp. Just stay Japanese if I was you.

hmmm

galant is ok, cant have an mr2 as i got to get kids in

i really fancy the mg but just feel at that money something must be knackered

I'd take a punt on the rover, would do the head gasket test first though

along with a hpi check.

Underrated cars, people remember them from when they were Leyland

rubbish, not so anymore.

I've had a rover 25 tdi for 2 yrs now, done around 40k, not missed a beat.

Looks a bargain for £600!
