Hi all,

Could do with a little help / advice as i am having a couple of problems with my Z32 TT.

Firstly the diff oil light started coming on this week. i have had look at the back of the diff, where normally there are two plugs one top to fill up the oil and one at the bottom to drain, but these arent there so where are they located on the Z?

Also when i start my car from cold it wants to cut out and i have to genltly press the throttle for about 15-20sec (only upto about 1000rpm) and then when i take my foot off the revs fluctuate for about another 15sec and then it has a steady idle. Has anyone had this problem and know what the fix is?

Cheers Dave

i think the light you are referring to is the engine check light, there is no diff oil light. and i think you'll find the engine check light is coming on due to the stalling fault you mention.

when you start the car and have to hold the rpm up with the throttle, does it run normally/smoothly (on all cylinders)? as a generic fault finding exercise, the first thing i would check is for boost leaks, maybe a hose has popped off or split. if i had no joy with that, i'd look into cleaning the aac valve which controls the idle, plenty of guides on here as to how to...

let us know how you get on and we can eliminate more things. it would also help if you have, or could get access to datascan or conzult as the check light would throw up a fault code which may point you staright to the culprit.

on my zx there is a diff oil light next to the engine check light, will have a look this afternoon see if i can spot a boost leak might also check plugs and see if they are ok (but they are only 1000 miles old so should be ok).

Thanks for your help mate

Diff light is fitted on the UK spec cars and not the Jap spec zeds so thats the confusion. the fill and drain plugs are on the sides of the diff not the back, looks like a square recessed plug, a 1/2inch ratchet will fit fine. Check around the diff area first see if its dry, if so then its unlikely the oil is low.

The diff warning light can come on due to faulty cables and or connections to the two sensors on the rear of the dif, also alternator faults and low battery charge circuit can cause the same problem, had a flat battery recently?

Also check the fuse marked "engine Cont" in the relay/ fuse box under the bonnet on the passenger side inner wing, the fuse is a red 10 amp and even if it is ok change it for a new one as just a high resistance fuse will cause that circuit to be problematic.

Good luck
