Scam..... you want to contact paypal yourself by phone or through paypal login. You dont need to send any money. When you set up paypal, they send you 2 small amounts ie pence, to verify your account.

I would open a new paypal account and close the current one, once youve got good contact with paypal regarding the situation.

make up the detail.

fill it out from mickey mouse

mate...do what i do and dont leave an active card on your pay-pal account, iff you want to buy then go into add/remove card and put one on then make purchase and instantly remove card...plus only keep a tenner in your pay-pal account at any one time:winkiss:

you can spot that's a scam from 10 miles off. delete and ignore, report to Paypal if you want. i get several a week - you get used to it after a while.

Well, rule of thumb with emails

Never click a link in a email, even if its from a trusted source unless you know specifically that that person is sending you a link. this also goes for copying and pasting the link into the address bar that some scam emails want you to do.

Never click any email saying it needs to verify who you are once you have already set up what ever it is you have set up (ie if you get a email 3 months after setting up Paypal)

Never go through a email link to get to the company that is holding your valuable information especially bank details.

Even if you get scare letters, always navigate to the website using a trusted source such as google or your own favorites link, or better yet the address bar.

If you think its suspicious it probably is.

Always check the link. If you hold your cursor over the link, the real address will show in the bottom left hand corner of the Internet explorer window you have open, above your start button in windows (one reason i do use Internet explorer)

Never fall for a time limit to respond for entering details, its easier for you to retrieve your information or resign up if its genuine, than it is to recover from having your account hacked or details scammed, so if in real doubt, just ignore it.

Always remember if there is a problem with your account you can normally verify this by tying the site in by hand into the address bar (do not copy an address out of the email) navigating through the login and checking out details or accounts. almost all companies holding your valuable details will let you know there is something wrong with in your account settings.
