In America they have this Scheme called Cash for Clunkers, basically you trade in any car and they give you the best amount of money for it, its like the Scheme over here, but over here they just crush your car,

In America they put sand in your engine or what ever they feel like just destroy your engine, its part of their scheme, they have to destroy the engine as well as crushing it (god knows why?!).

If you look at 3:21 seconds on this video you will see a much loved car about to have its engine blown up and then crushed...

All the Nissans they have crushed in the past..

:( from what little of the bodywork you see it looks in mint condition. no doubt there's nothing wrong with it that a few hours of expertise can't fix

Well that looks an environmentally friendly way of doing it

I know that's the stupid thing, they burn out most of the tires as well....

Isn't it pretty similar to the scheme here? If you're gonna destroy a car by crushing it you may as well have some fun along the way!

Just as ridiculous as the scheme here... taking perfectly good, usable cars off the road

Most of the larger tires , are used to make artificial reefs out at sea, after a couple of yrs the barnacle's grow on them and make habitats for fish , should do that here,

i read an artical on artifical reefs its incredible how fast sunken boats etc become ecosystems, months. weve just had an artifical reef installed apprantly the fishermen are getting better catches around the area. they did look at creating it out of tyres but there was something about the compounds tyres are made from not actually being very good for conilization. maybe thats why? still a silly idea to be destroying cars that work. all this its good for the envioment stuff is bull as it is its all about money in thier pockets

Spent a lot of time in DC over the yrs and you notice that the Americans are turning to VW and Toyota cars IE turning to the economical cars , not big gas guzzling :tank:
