Here's one for the 300ZX guru's (you know who you are!),

Our cars are limited to max. speed of 155mph, so all this talk about upgrading the ECU's to Jun, Mines, JWT etc. Do they remove the top end speed limit and if so what is the realistic top end for the 300ZX TT as standard??? Anyone know?

The Superchips one does - and nothing else :)

the JWT one does and lots more.

Dunno about the rest - one would hope so.

I can vouch for the JWT removing the 155mph speed limiter, as I exceeded this speed a couple of months ago (on a track, of course)

Dave

well yes it does, i think the maimum theoretical top speed is 186 mph according to gears (i stand to be corrected) but that seems to be the case with what i have read in the options magazine.

The Top Speed for a JWT Stage III Z32 2+2, MANUAL, with stock tire size is around 190 mph.

Been there......and done that...redline in 5th gear.

The Top Speed of an AUTO Z is probably HIGHER than that, but I haven't got the time & opportunity to do it.

And BTW, it's HIGHER because of the higher transmission ratio..

And finally, you do NOT need ALL the BHP in the Stage III to reach the redline....in fact, when I decide to go that fast, I REDUCE the boost in my cars

PS And if someone would like to ONLY remove the speed limiter, I can either give the info how to do it....or I can even program an Eprom for you....

Henri,

How much of that top speed is squeezed out of the upgrades? What can you get or expect to get from stock?

What is in the stage III upgrades anyway?

well i find in my CAR'S LOL that a stage three is intake ,exhaust and ecu, and i must disagree that it is 190mph as i am looking at the hyper rev book on 300zx's and it is 186 mph on standard tyres (the gearing is at least) and when they did a top speed run with a standard z32 in sports car magazine they reached 165 mph with limiter in place lol

Before stating an ABSOLUTE MAX SPEED, keep in mind....that...(this is a tongue in cheek public answer to a mail I received about my post above)

- If you haven't been there, IMHO, you do NOT qualify to comment ! (this applies to the top speed, and the transmission of the car)

- Maybe one day, you'll take the time to go to a tire dealer, and ACTUALLY MEASURE the circumference of all the SAME SIZE tires...and you probably will be amazed that the variation on length of a 255/40 ZR 17 could be more than 4% (and this applies to ALL sizes, BTW)

- When you drive fast, the tires are EXPANDING, and this could be A LOT

- Maybe you'll realise that RADARS DO HAVE a measurement error

- Same applies to GPS

- Journalists even have a BIGGER ERROR built in....

- Personally, when I time my speed, I use the speedo, the Techtom, the Apexi, a GPS and a VIDEO, where I can later on count the frames on the picture, and compare them with the length of the lines on the road

- That the difference between 186 and 190 is about 2%, so it's WELL WITHIN any experimental error

And FINALLY,

- note that I said "is around 190 mph"...Given that you're from England, I can easily understand that you have problems to speak a proper english, I'd suggest that you buy yourself a Webster, and look at the definition of "around".

Chill guys,

Flippin' 'eck!!! I only wanted a simple answer not a boxing match between Albert Einstein and Patrick Moore on the Black Hole theory.

Thanks to Henri, as always, very informative and concise as ever.

Hi Henri,

good to see you posting here again, you seemed to have a little break. How are you doing ? Glad to be out of the UK workwise ?

i know 300z was making a comedic reply too, and not having a go, but he is south african, so maybe a webster is a good idea...

sorry warren.. had to agree.. ;)

Henri, any chance of you coming over to TRAX in september ?

well i have actually been there done that and whatever the catch phrases are, but im just quoting out of the japanese magazine,

i suppose i stand corrected is not the correct phrase of ek dink ek kannie hierdie tall praat, of iets, but relax man, or buy a decent set of rims for your 300zx or whatever but i was only joking........

Actually, Warren / 300 Z was NOT my target when I wrote my reply...

I got a "hate mail" from a pseudo anonymous Hotmail account, send from the Web, from an IP address in LONDON / UK...so it's CLEARLY not someone from South Africa.

I traced the IP address, and I have the offender's company name.

Any further problem, and I'll be glad to send a complain to the bad guy's network admin (as listed in the NIC registration).

A bon entendeur !!

Zee you

Henri

It's "a complaint" not "a complain".

Dave

P.S. I'm REALLY REALLY sorry but I just couldn't resist - no hard feelings Henri !
