what does the spring actually hook over? i have just placed it over the control cable on the matrix valve but its squeeking when the heater is turned on so guessing that not right

hoping jeff will see this mate :)

the bit of the spring you can`t see goes in the little silver lever that`s function is to open the valve in the matrix pipes. You attach this to the silver lever first then the other end has the screw bolt going through it into the housing to hold that end in place. I have a spare unit in the loft will have a look later and see if springs attached. To add, mine squeaked and sometimes goes boing too even though all put back correctly..maybe it needs greasing or they just don`t like being disturbed. The problem i have now is i have flow through the vents but it`s got no power to it so guessing the flaps are out of sync or something, these units are a pain to figure out sometimes.
