trying to get my headlights out to clean the lenses and also get a dead spider carcass out of the housing, also going to be fitting some angel eyes.

But i can not access two bolts, You know the one's I'm on about, drivers side rear left (as looking at it from in front of the car) and passenger side rear right. for love nor money i can not get to these bolts, i have followed guides that say to remove the Recirc valves and the throttle body pipes, but my bolts are just too stuck, i even tried using a breaker bar and had no joy in getting them to budge, i can get a spanner on them, but then i have no room for leverage.

With the recircs in the way, i cant get at them from underneath its driving me mad. its getting to the point where I'm thinking of drilling out the bolts from the top, then using something else to secure them once i put them back it in, these are the only two bolts I'm struggling for access to.

Make sure all your adjusters are working, if not replace with the Tamiya gears.

I do have some spare, let me know.

If you search 'Headlight Once Removed Jobs!!', i cannot link for some reason, i did a small write up on what I did :sweatdrop:

One thing I wish now I had done was to fit 'Halos', but I aint taking them back out until I have another job at least to do on them :surrender:

Lol ive just stuck a thread up about the adjusters on the back in the wanted section, two of the plastic gears were snapped when i took the housing off, so if i need to adjust the left right movement im screwed at the moment.

Just fitted my Halos, got some LED ones off of groover apart from having to extend the wire so they come out the back rather than having to drill holes in my housing, they are 70mm units so fit around the len's rather than around the out side housing. i was a bit dubious to start with, but now they are in they look quite good. just hope they look as good when wired up and on lol.

IMG_0015-3.jpg cant really see the Halos on the passenger side, but can on the drivers side.

woot head lights back on the car, just cant check them now till groover sends my pods back lol

should of waited to do it, but they look fecking good with the Len's housing silver.

Looking good mate. I would spray them black though. you can do it with one tin and only takes 5 min. It will give it a much deeper modern look :cool3:

As for a silver hand you should of used a latex glove :lol:

The LEDs look sweet

lol yeah i found one after i had finished spraying them.. oh well Mrs thought i was waring nail vanish this morning cheeky git.

Im pleased with how the LED's look in there, didn't think they would suit the light, but once mounted and in, they look very good. just hope they work ok or im going to have to take the headlight apart and find out whats going on.

You can check them by linking up the contact points in the multi plug, I suspect you have dangling. For instance the pink wires are for the dipped lights. the new side light halo's will be another one of them.

Go on have a play, the pod is only a switch.

The worst that can happen is that you may blow a fuse.

Did you sort the adjusters then??

nope haven't sorted the adjusters yet, one of the reasons i haven't bolted them back in yet, not only that got a bit of time to do that before my front bumper comes back, but ill let that bit be a surprise for people.

Right going to go check see if they are working or not.

ok this is strange, went down, plugged the drivers side headlight in first, then started bridging the pins, drivers side headlight came on with the halo, looked fooking fantastic, so decided to try the passenger side as well, plugged that in, bridged the pins again, now my drivers side headlight is dead unless its on full beam,

On the passenger side, the headlight works with the halo but when you switch full beam on, i lose everything on the passenger side.

So drivers side doesn't work unless on full beam (but only get the full beam light on)

Passenger side works unless i put full beam on, then i lose everything

 ive checked the fuses none blown was going to check the relays but for some reason my RH side relay is black, and the LH side relay is brown, both with different codes? now i cant remember them being different?

aah crap what have i done lol

Think its something to do with the voltage difference between using LED's vs Bulbs?

AHHHHHHHH ,So you did listen to me then and let CAR MAD make a mould of my old 99 spec bumper then ,is this in return for some free side skirts eh ?

he didn't want it to start with, must of thought better of it. naa getting a nice 89spec rear spoiler so my rear end doesn't look rusty any more.

You are only crudely making the circuit with wires to test, don't expect it to be perfect until you get the pod back on.

Getting sides to work at a time is fine for now, don't beat yourself up :hammer:

Apologies for Hijack

I tried to tackle my headlights today for cleaning and repairing. That bolt !!!:censored:

First of all none of my sockets would fit it, one too small and the next size up too large. Then while trying to get at it with a scredriver i leaned on the tyre valve and snapped it.

So i put the spare on. But when i lowered the car back down all i got was hissing. It seemed fine in the boot.

So, After an hour of scraped knuckles the headlight is still in and i have 2 flat tyres. Will try again tomorrow.

its 12mm socked all the way around the headlight bud, not sure what bolt your having trouble with, but the one im on about is no where near your wheel lol

If you remove the headlight center panel they are the two back bolts accessible from in behind your air filter one on the left at the back and one on the right at the back, using ratchet swivel head spanners and a socket adapter i managed to get on the drivers side headlight bolt, only to snap the bloody thing off.

The passenger side was the worst though, because although it looks like the same clearance i just couldn't get the spanner on the nut. in the end i came from below and using a bit of force managed to move the hard air intake pipe enough to get my extension on the bolt with a 12mm socket to the bolt in question. then using a 15" breaker bar got it to shift.

My advice, use plenty of WD40 on the bolts and let them soak for around 4 to 5 hours have a cup of tea, sandwich and watch CSI, then try it again.

If your recirc valves come off (mine refused too) then you will gain the space required to get at them from underneath
