Hi All!

Im a future newbie to Z cars! Having checked insurance and prices, i recently realised a Z was in my price range, and since then Ive very quickly decided my MX5 is a bit slow!

However, since ive only ever seen one on the roads, ive no idea what to look out for! Is there anyone around Leamington or Coventry who wouldnt mind sparing an hour of their time sometime this weekend? I know it'd be really helpful to talk to an enthusiast before looking at cars myself!

If anyone can spare a bit of time, id be most grateful! I'm looking at getting a SWB, turbo manual if anyone has anything similar?

Thanks in Advance and looking forward to joining the community soon!

thanks for the offer Chris! I'll see if i can make it up to JAE at Kettering, wouldnt be too far for me. I've seen another post on here with the details, so i'll go search out info on there! If i do make it, i'll be the one trying to sit in everyones cars...

welcome buddy . as chris said try and get along to JAE . there will be loads of zeds there from standard to outragiously modified and no better place to chat with owners who will be able to tell you what to look out for .

welcome pal! :thumbup1:

Welcome mate, i'm in coventry :) Unfortunatley i'm busy this weekend, but i'm off work all next week if you want to meet one day. I'm in no way an expert, but i have a tt manual lwb so i could give you a go ;)

Also, a few of the midlands members meet at Bassetts pole most sundays, might be an idea if you want some better advice :)

Welcome to the club mate, you will not regret your decision to get a Zed. This is the best place for advice and being pointed in the right direction.

best of luck to you

thanks for the welcomes all! i'm gonna look at a car tomorrow over in dudley - £4k for a lwb turbo manual with 41k on the clock. hopefully gonna try and blag a test drive, although i'm not actually gonna buy a car till october at the earliest.

Cov Rob - thanks for the offer - might pop over for a chat one evening next week if thats alright? you have PM!

That would be fine, i have no plans for next week as of yet. I think, at 22, i'm one of the youngest Zed owners on here, which means most of my money goes on petrol and alcohol so probably wont have any money to make plans haha

ha, im amazed i'll be able to afford insurance on a zed, im only 23... admiral have quoted me £600 fully comp, its only £100 more than my mazda! plus ive got access to my gfs sensible 206, so it should keep petrol costs down! What mpg do you get day to day from a turbo?

Hi mate, sorry about the late reply, its my birthday this week (today in fact) and its been a pretty hectic one. BBQ with friends saturday then drove a rental van to cornwall sunday to move my mate back to cov, came back monday evening and fell asleep watching tv.

I'm free today from about midday untill around 4ish if you wanted to pop over, i cant send you a PM as your not subscribed, but i dont mind posting my number here for you if its not againt forum rules :)

I'll try and wake up nice and early and come check the thread mate, dont expect it to be too early tho haha, i'm a lazy git sometimes :p

Thats more like 10mpg ;)

Manual SWB turbos are rare So you might have to wait, especially if you want a slicktop (i.e solid roof with no targas) for a good one to come along. Happily however LWB models are far easier to come by.

I would say though, the insurance quote you got was that for a UK model or an import? Bear in mind that ALOT of 300zx's in this country are imports (all SWB are for a start) and although the cars are dam near identical, the insurance often differs massivly. I was 20 when I had my first 300zx (lwb auto), it was about £1100 to insure it, I still pay 770 for mine at 23 which is through flux,

Good luck with your search!
