hi guys has anyone got the specs of the twin turbo import please? i want to know weight and standard factory horse power?

Featured Replies

The weight of a 2+2 is around 1650kg, whilst the 2 seater is around 1490kg.

Standard power is around 280bhp for the manual, some say the auto is less with 265ish.

Normally it doesn't wear glasses but i suppose if it did they'd have to be lightweight carbon fibre and have been no where hear a horse regardless of power :w00t:

am i wrong in thinking the uk manual was 300bhp due to different cams?

No, you're correct, the UK spec manual has a little more power, although the engines are the same, I believe its the exhaust restriction thats different.

The slightly different cams and turbos are between the auto and manual engines due to the torque convertor characteristics on the auto.

But the original question was refering to an import TT.

No that incorrect. The official Nissan figures are 280 (actually 276) for the Jap and UK Manual. (auto is 263)

and 300 for the U.S Manual (auto is 280)

They are the "official" figures anyway. If anything the Jap would be more powerful than the UK becuase UK cars have a precat and more mapping for lower octane fuel.

There is no reason for the U.S model to be more powerfull.

so an auto thats been converted to manual is not as quick as a factory manual?

Not necessarily mate!

The auto has slightly smaller turbos and different cam timing (IIRC); the turbos spool up quicker to compensate for the overall power reduction and the auto 'box. This is so that in real terms, the auto should not suffer a performance drop from the manual.

So converting an auto to manual means that in theory, despite the supposed power disadvantage, the faster spooling turbos and cam timings could actually make the car accelerate faster than a stock manual.

All theoretical of course - on the road in normal circumstances, I doubt there'd be much in it.

sweet! i was told the previous owner of my car that it has been chipped, how can i tell if it has and which one it is to try and work out the bhp?

Not sure really mate - I guess you'd start by removing the wooden panel under the passenger footwell carpet and looking at the ECU.....

Off topic, I'm taking my Z over to "The Island" for a week's holiday on Saturday! So if you spot a blue UK spec buzzing around it may well be me!!
