Hi guys,

I've just registered and have been reading through the buyers guide section and flicking through the rest of the site that is available. The site looks great, nice and friendly and that buyers guide pages are very good, definitely fills me with confidence that I will hopefully be able to avoid buying a dud!

I currently own a 1997 Honda Prelude 2.2vti and have done a fair bit of work to the car myself over my 19months of ownership. The most recent being a full auto to manual conversion using the shorter ratio gear box from the 1999 model with an Accord Type R clutch kit and lightweight flywheel.

Here's how she looks at the moment...

...and the interior before the gearbox conversion...

I know so much about my car now it is ridiculous! Short of stripping the engine I don't think there's much of the car I haven't tinkered with, but I like to keep it almost strictly OEM Honda 8) I'm always glad to give advice on the Prelude forums and I hope it is the same here with all you budding GTO owners! :D

I am currently looking at moving onto a more powerful Jap car and climbing quickly to the top of my list is the 300ZX. Was the 300ZX Jap import only? I am looking at getting a TT auto. I am wondering how good the Auto TT version of the car is? In particular, does anyone the 0-60 time for the auto? Any advice on this or pointers to relevant posts I haven't found, would be very helpful 8)

Cheers!

Welcome to the club fella and nice Prelude as for the 300zx you can get UK and JDM Zeds Some say the auto box is week but I have had mine for 3 years and works like a dream so not bad for a 18 year old it all depends how well it was serviced and not abused and as for 0 to 60 a good auto should do it in just over 6 secs:thumbup:

Welcome to the forum, I'm new myself, just recently bought a manual UK TT Zed, so no, they're not all imported. What's with the budding GTO owners comment? lol Slip of the tongue?

You'll find the Zed a hell of a car to drive, especially after driving the prelude for so long. The difference between front and rear wheel drive is immense, the twin turbos and the V6 in comparison to a straight 4 are ridiculous and the looks you get when you're driving down the street, even in a stock one, is awesome. Not to mention things like driving position, distance from the road to your arse and the noise the V6 makes with or without exhausts. :D

I've driven a fair few motors over the last 10 years, including my old R32 GTR, which is still sort of my favourite, but I have to say, I'm starting to wonder if I don't prefer the Zed to all of them. Good luck buying a zed, even if you did buy a dud, if you've ripped apart the Honda (I've ripped a few hondas apart and they are HARD WORK!) then you should have no trouble restoring a busted zed, it may even be the best way for you to buy one, get one nice and cheap because it's in bad condition, and do it up from scratch, then it'll ultimately feel like you built it, and not nissan. :D

Welcome to the forum bud.

You'll not be the only one to trade up to a ZX from a 'lude.

Here's a pic of my old baby :)

Of course, she didn't look like that when i got her. :)

I'd definately consider another Prelude if i ever got rid of the Z. Had 5 of them already lol.

Welcome mate, one bit of advice is buy the best zed you can afford. there are some dogs out there, but view a few, it will soon become clear a good one and a bad one. Autos are good if well looked after. But having had both, i love the manual TT's. plus any zed has the smile factor.

If you are unsure at what your looking at, or need any advice re them. just post it up. we are here to help. There is a vast amount of knowledge here.

If your find something that looks good, alot of guys will view it with you. me included.

welcome

Stu

that is a nice honda kolnai (yours isn't so bad either pete) that was exactly what i was looking for before i found my zed litering someones drive. Sometimes i regret buying it instead of the honda but only due to fuel economy, but as soon as i climb in her all doubts disapear. just wondering though, after going to all the trouble of converting the honda from auto to manual, why get an auto zed? surley the manual would be more satisfying....

Welcome, you'll find us all a friendly bunch :cool3:

Like Stu said if you want anyone to come and look at any prospective Zeds just shout.

Welcome to the forum buddy! Nice Lude! I to have gone from a Honda (Integra Type R) to a ZTT in the past few months and am not regreting it at all. You will miss the v-tec from time to time but when your putting your foot down in the Z the Honda memories soon fade away lol!

Welcome.

I never guessed they were familiarly called "Ludes", it sounds almost as daft as calling a Skyline a "Liner".
