Just curious if anybody owns one or used to? general opinions ? As i am looking to buy a roadster soon as my daily driver.(yes i am a vain poser lol) and these are the 3 options. Sadly the 350Z is tad out of my range.

my friend has an s2000, its very nice. and pulls like a train aswell. its a bright yellow softop. looks the dogs *****cks. its had a few little things done to it though, such as a lmtd slip diff, and its being slammed on its arse. its not the most comfortable of cars for a daily runner (no glove box so very little storage space in the cabin) but the roof is one of the fastest available soft tops. and when the vtec kicks in it is well worth the money!

I thought there might be a little more in favour of the jap car lol, im in no rush so will take my time and test drive sum. its annoying that the s2000 is insurance group 20 and the others are 16. I will also have a look at merc slk's and bmw Z3/4

its got to be between the Boxster and the S2000, and while im not a fan of it personally the Boxter has certainly had plenty of praise over the years. Im sure its a better car than the s2000 is, it always beats it in roadtests/review comparisons.

Audi - Very plasticy and not quick at all

Boxster - Very flimsey, slower then a 2.5 Mondeo and just horrid

S2000 - Reliable, well put together, quick, great sounding engine, nice inside and great to drive.

Not really much of an option mate.

Wouldn't overlook the boxster..

Yes it looks the same when reversing as going forward, and yes, the image is a bit er... questionable. But if you believe everything that you read (and I do) then the boxster is the best drivers car. And the only reason its so slow is cos porsche wanted it to be - very tunable (but then, so are the others).

I think everyone has discounted the TT which is probably about right. Not that quick and not very nice to drive (I've had personal experience with TT's). But as you said - test drive a few examples befor making up your mind.

Or buy a Zed convertible?:whistling:

Boxster mate drive em all then you will know why.. fantastic handling great sounding car.

THE most overated car ever made. Driven a couple and they are horrid things, everyone I know that bought one sold it within' four months of having it. Slow, badly made, very uninvolving car to drive.

Please go and drive one, you'll soon see how wrong you are. Very dull, VERY slow, incredibly expencive to tune and very little out there to tune it with.

S2000 all the way from that list.

Or you could have a think about a Z3 or Z4.

I had a 2.7 boxter and a 3.2 very fast car to drive and boy do they corner. Build quality also has been fantastic. Not sure if you have been driving beaten up old dogs as mine were new? lovely things. I had three altogether and then went on to 911s.

I agree with Martin - the Boxster has always, and still, receives rave reviews as the best drivers' car in its class; and remains the benchmark for newer entries like the latest Z4 etc. As for Nick's "slow" comments - sorry mate; a Boxster will stuff a Mondeo! The 3.2s will give a stock ZX twin turbo a run for its money.....

And let's be honest, all cars in this class have a bit of a "girly" reputation and the S2000 is no exception; it's no less "girly" than the others. At least the competition also has some "more manly" bigger engined/powered versions whereas the S2000 comes in the one guise!

The only thing against the Boxster for me was luggage space; I need room for a suitcase or 2 when going on hols. So I plumped for the front engined RWD choice (with a retractable hard top for all round practicality) and bought an SLK350. Superb build quality; great V6 and, no, a Mondeo will certainly not keep up with it!! The 7G tip 'box gives a 0-62 time of 5.4 with 100 coming up very soon after; there's a good torque band (with the maximum available from something like 2-5000rpm) so it's probably faster than my ZX until the silly speeds.

Mine is 4 years (and 50k miles) old now so I'm thinking about looking for another; and I would not hesitate to buy the same again......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
