hiya guys iv ftted a new rear bumper to my car and i really want to get some paint on it, im good with a can painting smaller areas but want to know if you lot reckon a bit of can experience and a few hours will see a good finish on a rear bumper. im completely changing the coulour, yellow bumper on a grey car so will be using grey acrylic or 2k paint mix up in can. i dont want to get it done pro cos im thinking of having a whole car respray but not yet.

Yup!-rattle canned my wings when I did the vents, 1 can per wing-you will need 2 cans (500ml) for a bumper.

Trick is to put lots of laquer on,thin coats,leave a week and buff the crap out of it!-looks like a proper job.Only pic I can find in the sun is this one........

so did you just dust the paint on then heavy with the laquer then? once the bumper is painted its going to have to dry quick and go back outside,. that looks great btw

You can put the base on quite heavy but even, the laquer needs to be done in several light coats,10 mins between to flash off. I would give the finished thing about an hour before taking outside tho'. HTH.:thumbup1:

Baz, did you use laquer? Do you flat back the white then laquer over or flat back the white then rubbing compound then laquer?

 

Once the laquer is on did you flat that back too?

how many hours did you spend preping that engine bay before painting? i reckon ten hours

It was a fair bit longer in total as i had to deal with all this first :ohmy:
