I owned 3 LWB Z's previously and was surrounded by at least 15 different examples every day at work for years

Where did you work that had 15 + 1 zeds everyday for years then? come on spill!!

i seem to have started a long thred here but i dont seem to have my question answered apart from the whole car is the same apart from where the car starts behind seats? so the doors, windows roof and everything else is the same and will fit from a LWB..

oh and ive had 2 LWB TT's and by far the SWB handles and accelerates better.. :tt2:

It would be easier if you wrote a list asking which differs, rather than us going through the entire car listing all the differences, there are just too many.

Doors are different (b-pillar is different length), doorcards are the same though.

All glass differs (except windscreen)

Not surprised you got fed up then what a hole that was, still find it difficult to understand owners leaving cars at places like that, oh well onwards and upwards for you at least eh?

so there really is alot of differences then...

i am looking at changing my drivers and passengers door glass as mine are both scratched. so i assume the LWB glass is a different shape.

The only reason i ask the inital question was because i went to a local car show at week end and seeing a LWB TT there and having a walk round it after looking at my SWB for the past few weeks. The doors looked alot longer on a LWB than a SWB and it got me thinking...

yeh, the roofline is a different shape so as are the windows. Took me a couple of months to find a replacement swb drivers window for mine...had to use a LWb version tempoarily which left a gap at certain places.

Dave are you absolutly sure that the windscreens are the same on all models? If so thats awesome! I had got it in my head they were different and mine picked up a chip the other day :(

yeh, other than Tint variations...and the vert has a built in Aerial. But all the same size/fitment.

The SWB is faster and lighter with better handling and better looking, which are the important differences :p

The differences start from the a-pillar back.

I seem to remmeber overtaking every slicktop on the track cough cough. LWB much more stable round those longer faster turns. SWB woyuld be far better round the short slow corners but those corners are boring anyway.

..and I've been in a NA Convertible Auto overtaking every single TT owner around the track too, you know what track days are like ;)

your talking theory, not reality, the SWB is not in the least bit any less stable than a LWB round CC, just quicker and without all the wobble :p

Have you even driven a zed around a track yet lol?

At CC just after camp you have that long right hander, i can take that at full throttle with no problem and thats at about 120mph, try taking that corner in a shorty at that speed.

Unique autosports zed is a LWB ;)

Yes - I was terrified but then that was an Automatic Estate with no brakes and not much in the way of tension rod bushes left ;) Also on 5 cylinders for part of the day hehe

Yes, but only ever as a passenger at CC unfortuantly.

Have you ever driven a swb properly ? High Speed stability is all about the wheel Track vs wheelbase ratio, which on the SWB is still larger than many sports cars, providing great stablity at speed. Also, high speed stability is not the same as high speed grip.

The SPL and Powertrix race cars are SWB, as are all the full-on Track built Z's I know except the UAS car.

:p

i tell you what... i swear my engine bay has lees room on my SWB than my LWB. everything seems harder to get to compared to my old 2+2. Even Santa agrees when he looks at my car and compares to his

Just seems a bit more.......... Tight like a tiger!austin_powers_in_goldmember_003.jpg

is the SWB a TT and the LWB a NA? LOL

Other than windscreen washer bottle within the inner wing, the frontends are identical.

Possibly an earlier or later model swb vs tt, one ith the hydraulic hicas and one without?
