Thanks again for all the advice and support earlier in the week. Since then I have given it some thought, and after long discussions with Marc, I've decided I am going to sell my zed. Well, hypothetically speaking anyway! I have a figure in my head of what I would like for the car, and if I can get this figure, then the plan is to get myself a crappy micra or starlet but something decent enough to get me through uni and my placements and then put the balance aside to start looking for another zed - but this time a TT. As much as I LOVE my zed, and I really do, I have just got back from a drive out and she is just beaut, I know that I need to use my head and not my heart, be sensible about this and get myself a practical car and a project zed.

So, watch this space.......

Sounds like you have plans for another, its always sad to see Z's owned for such a short period of time. Understandable though. Hope you get what you are after for it, she's a beauty. :)

Thanks Baz, I will be gutted to sell her but I have to use my head not my heart - and if I get a good price for it then a) I'll have a knockabout car to get me from a to b and b) have a chunk of money to put aside to get the car I really REALLY want.

I drove Lil Ste's TT at the weekend and it blew me away, so for me, its a no brainer really, its just my zed is soooooo mint!!

Hey, if other members can turn up in land rovers and pajeros, then I WILL be turning up in a crappy micra or starlet lol!!!

And I most definitely will be getting another zed - kinda hoping you'll help me find one :winkiss:

Make sure you get a good price - the car does look like a minter (little niggling probs aside)

Obviously it only worth what someone is willing to pay - but hold out for a serious offer and don't let any blood-suckers try it on!

Best of luck - hope you return quickly to the fold:thumbup1:

Thanks - like I said I have a rough figure in mind, if it doesn't get close to that then I would keep the car I think - I couldn't let it go for peanuts, she's worth far too much to me! However for the right price, if that would allow me to get my runabout and a chunk towards a TT, like I said, its a no brainer really. As long as I'm not without a zed for long.....

Having read a lot of your posts, it is very clear you love your car and are very proud of it. Rightly so, it looks a nice example to someone looking in. You give the impression that you will hard pushed to probably get one that you will equally be in love with in the future.

It's a shame you have decided to sell but please don't :nono:

I get the impression you will regret it

Funnily enough, i've been in the exact situation myself (without the kids)

I had a KITT replica many years ago, when i was 18 actually, and after spending a lot of time and money decided to sell. regretted doing it so much i bought another Trans Am and had to start the entire project over again from scratch :(

Going by your previous posts i'm sure you'll do the right thing. If it's gotta go, it's gotta go. There will always be other cars. Whatever happens, keep smiling, do what's best for you and your daughter, and remember.......Slicktop's rule!!

Daffy.

Difficult situation but, as you say it's a 'no-brainer'. I've attended more than one zed meet in the wifes green micra:blushing: It may be embarrassing but we've done over 50,000 miles with no major problems, including Pompey to Teeside on a regular basis(uses less gas for the round trip than the zed does one-way!!!) and I wouldn't call it crappy - certainly not in front of the wife anyway:slap:

All the best,

Steve

this is sad news indeed. idealy what u want is someone willing to buy yours, turn it to TT and then sell u it back at a later date......oh how to dream.

Interesting - my dad still lives in Pompey!! Maybe if Marc does get a Micra we'll give that journey a go!!

I know Ste - still not sure which way to go. Marc has decided to get a small car sooner rather than later, provided he can find a decent one - and the cheeky monkey started a thread in my name last night asking about engine conversions in case we could find a cheap TT engine and do a transplant. Which wouldn't get me a cheap runabout but its certainly worth thinking about. Just not sure who I would trust enough to do a big job like that as they're specialist cars and I don't know anyone who would realyl want to undertake such a project.....like I said, watch this space!

Is a shame but if needs must then thats what you have to do. End of the day there will always be Zed's about you can pick up when you can aford to again. :)

Thanks again everyone. Marc's realised now that if we're without a small family car for any length of time we're really stuffed in terms of where we can go or what we can do over the winter, so he's started looking for a micra to get asap. This means that I don't have to sell my zed after all, although over the winter I will need to start saving for a smal car of my own (yellow micra to match the zed?!) so for now I'm keeping the car. I really would have been devastated to sell her as she is without a doubt the nicest car I've ever owned and I am hooked on the looks and power of the zed now.

Sorry for being a tit lol :shaun:

glad to hear your keeping the beast!!

micra is a good choice, extremley reliable and very cheap to run, however watch for the ones that are ten years or over as some are very very rotten, main common place is sills and front crossmember (where the rad sits on it)
