steve really did do a great job, he really knows his stuff andis happy to explain what he is doing, really pleased with the results. here is his site http://fctuning.com/fctwp/

HP vs TQ

attachment.php?attachmentid=55784&stc=1&d=1282749003

what i went to steve with an what i left with...

attachment.php?attachmentid=55785&stc=1&d=1282749003

Power @ the wheels vs Tractive Effort (how much thrust/grip the car develops on the rollers - nearly 1500 Ft Ibs)

attachment.php?attachmentid=55786&stc=1&d=1282749003

HP vs Air Fuel Ratio (average engine fuel mixtures picked up from both Banks of the V6)

attachment.php?attachmentid=55787&stc=1&d=1282749003

Hp vs Boost 1.2 dropping to 1bar (very normal with STOCK actuators) only way to cure this solidly is HKS 1.2 BAR actuators with Much STIFFER springs) but atleast this time BOOST is much much more consistent - making the tune for me easier to do and set up

Nistune is the same system I use, its very good. You don't need to leave the daughterboard in there. I just have an ECU with it fitted that I map with then burn the image to a chip and fit that to the car, saves the customer the cost of the board.

Most I ever got from mine before I pulled the VG30 was 350RWHP @ 1.1bar (before V-Power) but it was absoutely marginal, I wouldn't have tuned someone else's car like that.

When you say marginal, what do you mean: - Run for your lives, she's gonna blow?

Also in your experience whats the transmission loss? 350 = ???? at the fly?

Sounds to me, assuming the transmission loss is roughly similar, that outright hp would be very similar? oui, oui, oui:saddam:

tranmission loss is a percentage of the power, not the same constant.

12 afr is a bit lean really, looking at the graph it hits just above 12 afr at 6000rpm.

Thats where he will be getting the power running lean. Paul got 400hp because he was running lean and on the very edge of the engine going pop.

The rest of us (7) of us all got around the 340hp. all within 5hp.

John, that engine (your old) is still going strong ! :D

Nice - although I wonder why the RWHP graph crosses over at a lower rpm - torque & HP should be the same at 5252rpm as in the first 2 graphs but the 3rd is lower?!

Same reason any dyno graph doesn't cross at 5252, because the scales are not the same.

What I meant was that I had the fuelling pretty much flat 12:1 and the timing at the maximum available - when you tune each load site you basically add timing until you make no more power (MBT or Minimum best timing), there will then be a small area where you increase and get no gain, then det and bang! Mine was right on the edge of where you get no more gain, on other peoples cars I typically stay 2 degrees away from that. Problem with being close or on MBT with full power lean fuelling is that a slightly bad tank of fuel or dip in fuel pressure can have you going into detonation. For other peoples cars I prefer to leave a margin as I don't want to cause any damage - I've done literally hundereds of chips and probably 20 300's on stock ECUs on the dyno and nobody has blown up yet!

Thanks for explaining that to me...

Still learning!

Sounds like Yassa must be sailing close to the wind then - hope his engine doesn't go pop:scared:

Yassa - were you advised it was quite a volatile state of tune - what did your man at the tuning place tell you. Not trying to start a 'who knows best' thing here, but just curious as a novice to all this..:whistling:

it could have been tuned to 450ish and that would be at the stage john is talking about. 437 is perfectly safe with no chance of det even so it is actually running about 420 or so as it left the dyno as it was tuned down so it is 100% safe no matter what i throw at it. so it was never pushed to anywhere near being unsafe. steve maps alot of drift cars so knows about mapping cars so they can take abuse without going bang

Thanks Yassa -

Whats your rev limit set at? Looked like about 8k?

Makes me wince when i see those kinda revs - probably cos I drive a diesel most of the time.. 8k pretty standard fare for these motors?

You'll do 8k with forged rods and pistons, I wouldn't try it on a stock engine. Power always falls off before that with stock cams anyway. Stock injectors are limiting on the rev limit too, not to mention that the turbos will run out of puff!

looked good that video. bet it was all expencive though? what other engine mods do you have?

nothing internally mate, just, filter, exhaust etc.. the basics :)

People forking out on upgraded turbo's running 20psi, 555 injectors, increased cilinder capacity, uprated MAF's ect ect to only get 30 bhp more than you on stock will be gutted!

Or they will believe the results as much as I do ;)

we are going to organise a rolling road day, if anyone would like to see what their or anybody,s car can truely do... seeing is believing, :tt2:

what clutch are you running? only ask as im going to have to buy 1 soon and if yours is standard with that power maybe i only need a standard one?

hi mate , its a twin plate exedy carbon one mate, i got it from jaffa i think its supposed to handle 1000bhp so i will never push its boundries.

Coolio bud, I wanna dyno my porker now its tuned does he do 4 wheel drive stuff also where is he?. Should be 600ish so im told so getting it on a rolling road would be good fun, I dont need a tune though just the rolling rd.

Will be about 1000hp on that dyno :lol:

Will be fun bud! well according to DMS http://www.dmsautomotive.com/models.asp?upid=9 mine should now be 547 BHP with 542 LB ft. It does go like a starship anyhows and also has an overbost I can use for a bit more as well.

Would be interesting to see what it comes out like on this dyno? where is the dyno Yassa no address on the site (well not on the contact page??)
