The plan was to sell my n/a manual zed (which i am going to anyway) and put the cash towards getting a bmw x5, then in a few years get a real nice TT MANUAL, ive had 3 zeds now, all average condition, 1st n/a auto then TT Auto, Then n/a manual (current one), TT manuals are too pricey at the moment for me, expecually when i want a tidy modern 4x4 (x5),

However, a mate called me today and said he'd bought his auntys TT Manual as it got broken into last week and the gits had the turbo pipes with dump valves, the alloys (which were really nice) and the stereo, anyway she had lost her driving licence last year and lost her job this year, and with the recent thiefing i think she got desperate!

As soon as he called me the X5 idea went straight down the pan and i rushed down to see him to have a look,

well its black, import, 81k, tons of history, runs really really sweet, and the body work is exeptional for an very early zed! he's bought some crappy wheels for it just to get it moved. It needs little bits doing to it, i.e. windscreen and targa stripes, and theres a small dent on one of the sills where the w****rs left it on bricks. and a little bit of paint flaking off the front bumper, but overall its very good,

NO TAX AND NO MOT, we agreed on 1500 pounds, and it may go down to 1200 if he decides he wants my old honda prelude or corsa sport..

Anyhow, heres some camera phone pics, ive given him a deposit and i will pay and collect it as soon as i get rid of the n/a. Happy days!! :tt1:

sorry for your mate's auntie but you lucky git!!

V nice zed - and a manual TT - sweet!

Thanks for comments guys, will do some decent pics when i get her home, do some little work on it and a bit of cleaning and hopefully she will be a good-un!

im thinking of going german aswell:(

thats a very nice motor mate

my friend has an X5 and i borrowed it for a couple of weeks, i really wanted one at one time, but after borrowing his i found it uninspiring, it was the 3.0 diesel and the rare manual, was fun at first and has all the toys (fully loaded) but after a week the novelty wore off and i may aswell have been driving a van

the M3 on the other hand is a different kettle of fish lol

Great bargin for a good looking car. I have a 4.4 V8 X5, goes like a train, will top 150mph on certain roads, but 14mpg, tyres once a year and £130 to fill the tank. Gets the family everywhere, but doesnt have the image of my Zed.

There is a reason manual X5's are rare.... far better with an auotbox tha can use the engines to their full potential.

Fantastic cars for what they are.... what vans have you driven stella that handle as well as an X5?!

As for the zed nice looking car although im not sold on the interior sorry! Bargain at 1500, probably worth more than that as parts so your quids in regardless!

yeah thats the model i want!! but this zed has set me back a good few months worth of saving, so it will be while yet untill i get one..

Why on earth would you want a horrid X5 instead of your Zed?

ive always loved em, infact ive always been a 4X4 fan,... but the X5 is just somthing else, my old boss had the 4.4 V8 version, and what a machine!!

i think they have a good road presence, its extremely comfortable and luxurious, There generally reliable, and as i buy and sell at least 1 car a month it would be an ideal tow car come family car,

And the idea was to get a nice zed after getting the x5, but i got a nice zed now (hopefully!!) and hopefully this time next year i'll have a bmw X5

I have the 4.6is X5 fully loaded (tv's, dvd, phone, etc etc..) and this is an absolute animal. It has the BMW V8 engine tuned by M Gmbh, with the specification of an M car. Only thing is they didn't badge it as M, as they believed they should have retained the M badge for the drivers car and not expand the range to a SUV at that point. It has immense power and acceleration through the rev range, great road holding and fantastic braking. It actually brakes like a supercar. Thirsty yes, but would still do 21-22 on a long journey if cruising. Floor it and it drinks juice. If you are prepared to buy a petrol X5 with a V8 go for this same 4.6is model or the newer 4.8is. Subtle differences in styling, wheels, wheel arches make them a vehicle with far more presence that the standard X5 and a totally different vehicle to drive in comparison to the 3.0d. I had one for a few weeks and it nearly put me off the X5's. I did not like it at all! At the time it gave me the feeling of a vehicle whose reputation far exceeded its capability and definitely never fitted in with company's killer rap for their vehicles as being the ultimate driving machines. A word of warning with the X5 V8 - the torque converter can disintegrate with the power of the V8 and this can lead to an expensive gearbox rebuild! Luckily mine was covered under warranty, which meant I didn't have to pay the €3k bill.

I have the 300zx and love the car. It was the car I always wanted since I bought issue number 19 of the Encylopedia of Supercars way back in 1991.

At one stage, with lack of work, tight finances etc... I was considering selling some of the vehicles. At no stage did I consider selling the Zed.

Good luck with whichever model you eventually decide to go with.

thanks for all the info mate, i was aware of the 4.6, however im also aware that people know that there much better than the standard ones and that reflects massivley on the price, the 4.4 is fairly common in the range of x5's from what i gather, and them and the 3.0l tend to be the cheapest,

You seem to be able to get a low milage, well looked after petrol versions for the price of a high milage bashed up diesel ones.
