i'd go dash mounted. i've got double pillar mounted, allthough it's handy and visable (allthough dials don't light up) i'm constantly hitting my tab on one, and it does obstruct the view sometimes.

pluss with a nice interiour and some other bits painted to match it would be a real nice finish

I wouldn't have either. I'd go for DIN mounted gauges. Although that dash mount one looks ok, but that's probably down to the fact that Luke has painted his centre consol and dash mount bodycolour. If you did both of them in piano black or something, it would look ok. Can't stand pillar gauges. Look awful.

whats Piano black?

is it the black with a bit of a glossy look?

i'm presuming this is ready to just spray over?

Piano Black is the finish that a lot of cars now have for central plastics. It's not just a regular black. I think it could be mat black with a lacquer on top. Very glossy. Or a gloss black with a couple of layers of lacquer as well. Not sure how it's done.

Often thought about doing my centre console in piano black.

I've got both and they look fine. I don't like DIN mounts as I find they take my eyes off the road to much, which I really don't like.

I think the dash mount looks the better of the two, if it´s fitted perfectly. What I don´t like is that you have to cut a bit of the dash out to mount it. So, from the two options you gave I´´d have to go with the pillar mount as it can be reversed to original again without having a big hole in the dash and having to change the whole dash.

well yes. that is also the other factor. personally i will be the last owner of this car as i decided with my wife that it is pointless selling as i would only want another (already done that)

and worst comes to worse i can always find a dash from a breaker first so that i know i can revert should i need to :)

but i can see your point and to be honest its making me favour the DIM setup a little bit. i really have a problem liking the pillar. :(

I have a DIN set up myself...by far the best option in my opinion...but you didn´´t list that option :)

the only dash one i like is the Zcentre V2 dahs mounted one in the link above :)

i don't personally like the dash or A-pillar gauges, forgive me, but tends to look chavish to me, a bit like sticking an 100 quid backlit voltmeter right infront of you in a fiat punto, however, 3 useful gauges in a din slot, look smart, and are very functional, although as mentioned, can take your eyes off the road whilst driving....

Pillar ones in mine and Si doesn't like the rest of the car either :tt2:

And mine heh heh. Each to there own eh.
