I was just tucking into some great fish & chips thinking of some of Britains great exports (Aston Martin, Gordon's Gin, Status Quo & Kelly Brook!) when I thought what are the best of british exports?)

What do you like best?

beef, may have been a little mad in the past, but nowt better than a bit of british rump

Yup - I have to agree with all of those things....

....and would like to add some great British inventions that have transformed the world in which we live. OK, we don't make (m)any of them now but we pioneered them and took them all over the world to the benefit of everyone else:

The railways (Richard Trevithick and latterly George Stephenson)

The telephone (Alexander Graham Bell)

The television (John Logie Baird)

The jet engine (Sir Frank Whittle)

Penicillin (Alexander Flemming)

The internet (Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee)

And the Great British spirit and genius that inspired them all; and led to the inspiration of subsequent foreign inventors like Eddison etc....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

You wouldnt think that if we lived in a hot climate with NO rain. Bad for the land and animals and farming in general = bad for us.

I have to agree with Kim about the British weather - sure we moan about it; but we're actually quite fortunate. Generally we do not have the extremes that have detrimental effects on other countries; like regular seasonal floods, hurricanes and prolonged droughts every year.

Yes, we do have freak conditions and occurrences from time to time but for the most part we are lucky!

I happen to hate flying to I tend to spend my holidays going away in the UK and I am happy to say, have been fortunate with the weather (bet that'll jynx it next time:cursing:)

The Beatles conquered the world and opened up the American market for everyone else who followed . Plus , they are still head and shoulders above all others , so there !

i don't agree with your choice of weather but i think your choice of music is AWESOME :)

Peter

Glad we agree on something then. :punk:

True - whilst I like their songs, I also like them sung by others (Like The Soul of Lennon & McCartney tribute from the late 80s; Beatles tracks performed by soul singers of the day).

Plus you also have to consider the Rolling Stones - especially as they're still going!!

2 Words.......

THE WHO

Oh yes!!!

In fact, apart from the reality TV tripe that passes for music in the current charts, I think the British can lay claim to the world's best and most influential music and artistes....

...even the likes of Oasis, Duran Duran, Elton John, George Michael, etc have made their mark on the music scene...

well we did export several hundred criminals to australia

or Gary Glitter!! best thing we ever did was export him

Golf, possibly the 2nd largest sport in the world.

I would also say football, but there is a lot to argue who actual invented that. So I will just say "derby matches" as that was invented in Britain.

2 worldwide huge sports!
