Gave the car a bit of extra TLC on the weekend. Have taken the advice of another forum member (Damo) and invested in some serious car cleaning kit. It wasn't cheap but then, when you break the cost down per wash, it ain't sooo bad.
Wish I could post some pics, but unfortunately you can't see the detail, so it would just be more photos of my car, which still looks the same - black etc.
Anyway, I was a little sceptical about how much of an improvement all the kit would make, but I have been totally blown away. I'm seriously considering whether I need a respray now, it really is that good! As I'm sure a lot of people know black paint is just an arse to keep looking fresh and moist.. But, regardless of colour - it'll work on any tired looking paint. In fact the worse your paint is to start, the better! We did my mates car first and there was a small improvement, but mine was radically improved. I also think the car is at least 2-3mph quicker now!
I bought DO-DO Juice, but other brands are available. 4 steps:
1 - Wash car and chamois
2 - Clay bar painted panels until smooth - then rinse and dry
3 - apply abrasive liquid to clean panels and apply gloss - clean immediately..
4 - multiple layers of wax
Sounds like a ball ache I know - and it is! Only did the front half of my motor, but it helped to appreciate the difference befor/after. I will do the rest next weekend. Only have to do this once every six months or so, just needs regular washing after (thank fooook).
SO if any one isn't aware of the magical properties of clay bars and all the other gubbins that goes with them, then give em a try. You'll be well chuffed. Far superior to a standard wax or T-cut.
Anyway, I'm sounding far too much like a salesman now. But if you do want your car doing and you can't be arsed, call it a £100 and it'll be ready in 24 hrs!
