Hi i filled my car up today full with the shell fuel save stuff, my car is pinking like mad??

They have changed my usual V power stuff over, :hammer:

 

 

How frightening and boost went down to virtually zero,

I have spent last few hours with a neighbour syphoning car out,

let it tick over untill empty,

went tescos with a jerry can filled up with Tescos 99, took it round block no problem at all????

Is it a coincidence??

 

cars fantastic now, i didnt put diesel in,

Should i tell Shell or ??:gun_bandana::gun_bandana:

clarify i always use the same shell petrol and v power stuff

What octane rating is the fuel save stuff? Has your car got a boost upgrade? dont be such a dry bread in future and use the correct fuel :lol:

Maybe their "fuelsave" unleaded is inferior to their previous regular unleaded.....

Do you have an aftermarket ecu or map? Are you running increased boost?... DONT BE TIGHT AND BUY CRAP FUEL!

OK here goes, well i have always used shell V power,,, tonight on way home my usual pump, number 4 filled her up, payed same money, my car is bog standard as from new, so all boost usual etc,,

Had all tickets ferrari n cra9 on the pump,

so i dont think i was being tight as cost me £60 to fill her up?

and me usual pump

Mine runs fine on on the same fuel, no engine mods.

Could just be down to that one petrol station - maybe the fuel got contaminated in the storage tanks? It wouldn't be the first time....

how long you been on it, i never heard of it.. until i went back tonight to get the phone number to complain,

i phoned shell also, who were extremely interested and wanted my reciept, oooops which i threw in the bin and paid cash

Unless you know for sure i would not take the risk.its a high performance car so needs premium fuel end of matey.Not worth the risk imho.Treat her to a tank of 98 ron to make ammends.

im so confused i thought i was doing right thing as i always use the shell v power pump 4, put ten quid in this morning on way back fromhospital same pump same garage always v power, £60 pinked like mad on way home to essex, rang the garage guy told me the fuel is exactly the same???

so drained it off stuck in the Tescos 99 it ran perfect...

So i believe at the time i was doing the usual and right thing,

My scooby loves the tescos 99 stuff always been fine,

So never changed it, as what set up on the dyno on tescos stuff,

ok im doing research on the net, the stuff is 97 ron and was at my pump 4, which shouldt have been a problem, at the garage i was at number 5 is fuel save also but 95 ron,,

the Shell fuel save as far as I'm aware is just standard unleaded (or a crapper version perhaps) and I wouldn't put it anywhere near my Z!

 

and £60 to fill a tank on decent fuel - BARGAIN! lol!

From what i have seen with shell V power it is 99 Ron thats why i always use shell and get the points on my V power bonus card :)

don`t forget your ecu would have adjusted itself for the higher octane effects of v power and dropping a couple of points/warm day poss iffy fuel could affect the cars running

from what i gather my car is set to run on 95 unleaded as standard,

i put in the fuel saver unknowingly 97 ron, so technically shouldnt have made a difference.

its running perfect now, apart from the hesitation which it had before on the usual fuel, when warm go to pull away goes flat, which hopefully should be sussed today with help of my 2 guests??

 

could be a complete co incidence
