im a big fan of the safety aspect of run flats but not a fan of the teeth rattling ride they give . is anybody running these on their zed . my concern is when you take the suspension give away from the tyres is it likely to ware other components in the cars suspension . has anybody had any issues with this .

I dont like the idea personally due to the fact most people are ignorant to the fact that they are driving round with an under-inflated tyre anyway so coupled with the fact that with a stiffer tyre wall and low profile tyre most people wouldnt have a clue that they're driving round on a flat tyre which is ridiculously dangerous, then there's the price of the tyres themselves, they can only go on certain wheels you cant just chuck them on any old rim they need to be designed to be used with run flats and only certain places will repair punctures on them so if you get a nail through your tyre be prepared to drop your pants and think of england because your about to get the dust knocked clean off that rusty sheriffs badge of yours

Personally I wouldn't bother - they don't make economic sense for a rear tyre eating monster like a ZX.

 

Just invest in a decent set of tyres in the first place - no budget brands!

 

Plus if you're running 18s then the profile is so low anyway that a puncture or blow-out is not going to have a detrimental effect on the car's stability; as it's not too far to "fall."

 

I had a rear tyre blow on my red ZX whilst lane changing at over 80mph (that was a 255/40/17) and it did not upset the car's poise. Sure I knew something was wrong but it wasn't a brown pants moment and I easily steered/slowed the car to safety.

^^ as above, I have had 2 blowouts in Z's at "high speed" on the motorway.

 

The 1st was a rear tyre on a Widearch Z, car did'nt lose any stablility, it was just the increased vibration which told me something was wrong. Turned out the entire side of the tyre had blown out. btw Space saver on a Widearch Z is hilarious. :)

 

 

2nd was a front tyre, coasted to hard shoulder without any drama.

i had bridgestone potenza run flats, standard suspension and was a horrible harsh ride,

dont know if it was them or not but sure it didnt help towards it, my rear shocks the tops come off and and blew all the fluid out, shortly after getting tyres lol,
