Just looking at getting the most from what I've got at the mo..

I'm currently running Blitz induction, An upgraded ECU and Japspeed cat back system. I'm not sure if the boost has been tweaked as i don't have a boost gauge. With this in mind what's the optimum octane to run on?

I always use 97 ron minimum and occaisionally 99 when its convenient. I can't really tell any difference between them. Certainly nothing like the difference in performance compared to running the Zed on a cool night, rather than a hot day..

Obviously there are plenty of ways to boost octane levels further with fuel additives, but I wondered if it would be worthwhile? If my car has been setup to run on say Jap spec fuel (99ron, i believe), then are the benefits of a higher octane gonna be diminished?

What are other people's experiences of this - cheers

I run Vpower, your is chipped so i would too. 97 is ok but i try to stay as close to jap spec fuel as possible so 99 all the way.

Cheers Damo

Yep 99 Octane in a TT is definitely best....

Strangely when the fuel delivery strikes were on my zed on BP ordinary ran like a dog but ran quite happily on Shell ordinary although didn't get the mileage that it gives on V Power

Perverse or what ?

Nast, nasty things which will end up costing you a whole heap more such as in new plugs when the residue builds up etc. It'll work a bit for a while...

Alas, here is something to read up on with some pointers to what octane means.

Very interesting,

I wonder how many other people misunderstand what octane actually means. I had completely the wrong impression - I thought higher octane fuels were more combustable, not mixed with other chemicals to surpress their flash point..

You learn something everyday..

Thanks very much
