Currently after a set of standard 16" alloys to replace my 17's:detective:

Got me thinking though, are there any rims/tyres readily available with more than 225 section width (with a comparable profile - i'm after comfort more than anything)? I had a look for tyres, but all the online major stores didn't go any wider than 225..

Currently running 235's all round, so not too much of a drop, but ideally want 245+

Any wheely techy types know the answer:confused1:

Z UK rear alloys are 8.5" wide and come with 245 tyres as standard.

UK fronts and Jap front and rear are 7.5" wide and 225 tyres

If you want to fit wider tyres, and want stock Alloys then your better of getting yourself UK rear alloys, maybe even 2 pairs for front and rear. They also fill the arches better with the extra width and altered offset.

As you go wider you will need to lower the profile however, to keep the correct rolling diamater so as not to affect the speedo or performance of the vehicle.

You wont have any comfort issues with 16" wheels. Most Z owners run 18" wheels with 265/35/18 rear Tyres and it has very little affect on overall comfort.

Wide tyre widths would be limited in 16", most wider tyres do tend to be in 17/18/19".

http://www.camskill.co.uk/ are a popular online tyre supplier.

245/45/16 is what you'll be after.

Awesome, exactly what I was after

Reckon a set of uk spec alloys would fit the bill nicely.

I live in an area with concrete roads, the expansion joints are terrible - hence why I'm after a bit of profile..

Has anyone fitted uk spec rear wheels on the front previously - or is it best to stick with what nissan intended?

I would prefer bigger diameter wheels, but for the reasons above I'll probably keep my 17's for track use only - I must be getting old! Next I'll be wearing slippers and smoking a pipe!

Thanks for the input

There will possibly be a nice set of original 16" BBS alloys available soon. just up the road from you these were an original optional extra on the cars from new. Wheels in excelent condition. I think with 225s on at the moment

but 245s will go on them Im sure

The car is coming out of storage at the beginning of August when I start work on it. I will be taking pictures then and I can confirm the condition(I know its good) and also tyre size and condition.

Mine's got 255 50's on 16" rims.... I hope they aint that hard to get hold of... That means they cost more...:(

dont want to swap my standard 16's for your 17's do you?

Not really Henry..

Was thinking I'd keep the 17's for when the mood takes me. If I do decide to take the Zed on track then these will be better dynamically due to the lower profile sidewalls. If it wasn't for the very poor quality of my local roads I'd keep the 17's on, on half decent roads they are fine.

Thanks for the offer though
