The day after I did the spraying of the scuttles as per a previous thread, I drove to work 5.5 miles and parked up safely at 8am.

At about 10.30am I walked past the car and thought what a good job I did the day before. :cool3:

At 12.30pm I got in the car and saw this bloody crack, aaaaaaaarrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhh :crying:

Where the hell did that come from?? :confused1: :confused1:

Linked to the job I did the day before??

All the panels went back as sweet as a nut with no stress on the windscreen at all.

Can Autoglass make it disappear??

Have looked at my policy and it's £50.00 xs with no affect on the ncb, so will have to go down that road, I guess.

Any other guys had new screens in? Had any problems with, etc.

Without taking the scuttle trim off I cannot say for certain but the crack disappears under it about 2 inches from the side of the windscreen.

That's a new screen mate, you sure you didn't give the scuttle a little thump?-looks like the crack originates from that lower edge................

i think that occurs also when you slide the windscreen trim down too forcefully (i.e. not really really gently)... that exact same crack appeared on someone else's windscreen i know. make sure you clearly state whether bronze or blue glass when you get it sorted!

Bronze glass methinks with a blue sun strip it appears.

Is that common?

I believe that's what imports have. i think the blue glass looks much cleaner and more modern though.

I parked the girlfriends car half on the pavement half on the road. Came back after a really hot day and the screen had split half way up from the wipers..

Probably had a small crack I hadn't noticed. New glass though! Every cloud!!!

I had considered the heat as it does get parked in the morning sun from 8am to 12.30pm.

This particular day it did get quite warm by 12.30 but I have had it much warmer without any problem.

One of those things I suppose, it just decided to go and was just coincidence it went the day after I had the trim off, Iwill leave it at that.

No not yet, over the weekend I am gonna just pop off the trim and see where the crack originates, probably be the very edge methinks.

Will post up another pic.

Then leaving the trim off with just the wiper arms back I will contact insurance and get the ball moving next week.

The crack originates as I thought from the edge, please see the pic.

Was going to leave the trim off for a few days but this exposes the battery and the wiper motor, so i have slipped them back on with an odd bolt, easy removed once Autoglass turn up. :tt2:

Autoglass changed mine once and made a really good job as well.

Autoglass, I don,t think so,

I contacted them for my screen, told them BLUE tint, they arrived with GREEN tint, the guy who came to fit it did not have a clue, ripped a small hole in my dashboard, chipped the paint from the screen pillars.

2 days later I went out to the z and found that one of the screen trims was hanging off,so I rang Autoglass and was told SORRY WE DID NOT HAVE THE CORRECT CLIPS, so after waiting for 1 week when i had been told they would be with me the next day they finnaly turned up to fit them, the whole job was a complete farce,

Tottaly incompetant bunch of W.....S

Cheerz

these are doing mine at work as I have rung the insurance today.

Friday between noon and 4pm.

Two types of glass the lady told me, one was blue but mine must be bronze with a green top sunstrip she says, looks more blue than green currently to me, anyway must be the right one as it's certainly not blue i need.

I have a slicky so I have long roof trims which I have removed myself and all the clips are safely in a tub, the scuttles I will remove once I land at work on the Friday morning. not risking any damage from the 'technician', it's just another job to them, fit and bugger off as quick as possible!!!

Well Friday as come and gone and no windscreen as been fitted.

I booked the job Tuesday afternoon, I got a call from Autowindscreens at 10.20am Friday, the day of fitting and my first contact with them.

The guy said there was a problem and reading between his lines, I concluded that he was trying to fob me off with a blue tint, saying Nissan no longer do the bronze and if that is the case it's blue or blue.

I told him I don't want blue, all my glass is bronze, I want bronze of course.

Never rung back - nothing!!!

Can only presume he concluded I was having non of the blue one and they will now contact me again when they have sourced a bronze one.

Took a phone call today on the mobile out of the blue and it was Autowindscreens.

Tells me they have sourced one, finally!!! and my car is booked in for fitting Weds morning

I asked him 'Is it a bronze one?'.

He replied 'Yes'

Roll on Weds

imports are 100% bronze blue is clearer but does not look right with the rest bronze mine has had a blue screen uk one fitted at sometime in its life

As above, imports are bronze, UK spec are Blue, only problem is they have to import one from japan for the bronze.

Shame really as i have a brand spanker's blue one sitting in my Black car that I'm now going to split. it has seen just 26 miles of the open road too and from a MOT. but if someone wants it. a PM would suffice to work out a deal.

Chap arrived 14.20 for the am appointment!!!!

He took the wrapper off the glass and very lovely it was too, all bronze with a green sunstrip - beautiful

I proceeded to take off the wiper arms to help him whilst he was having a go at the top strip, see pic, he could not lift it and broke both sides

Would of thought some heat applied would of help lift it but too late

He rung his boss and I now I have to wait again for this strip to be brought with the glass on another day :headvswal
