Slick Pete will be starting on my new car in about two or three weeks. He's going to strip out most of the mechanicals in the slicktop and get the bodywork right up to scratch along with a few other jobs :)

The engine and electronics from the red car will be put into the slicktop by Dan when Pete has done his stuff.

There are going to be a fair few new parts so there will be lots of good stuff up for grabs at very reasonable prices. Pete will be sorting out what's to be had from the slicktop and there will be some stuff from the red one and of course the rolling shell will be looking for a new owner. Not much in the way of details just yet but will be posting a thread in the for sale when we know precisely what's going.

What is certain is that while I won't be stripping the slicktop to the bare bones I won't be keeping aircon and various servos etc to keep the weight right down.

I guess my main performance aim is to exceed 200 mph. I managed 196 mph on my ZX10R after spending a bloody fortune so this is my last chance as getting too bloody old for it lol.

Good job pete, the car is looking very well indeed.

And thank you Bob, we've all enjoyed watching you blow a fortune on this epic motor. Love the fact its very low-key, quite the opposite from your last one eh?

Will look forward to seeing it in the flesh, great job guys!

You can just make out Pete's replacement hand with the hooked claw on the left hand side of the nose panel hole....

Specially adapted to grab £20 notes:thumbup1:

Probably the final pics from me for the time being.

Car on its way Monday to Dan's workshop. I had it running today in my back yard/garden as I turned it ready for loading. If any of the neighbours were having a long lie in then I have just spoilt their day!!!

Enjoy

Yes I'm really happy. Despite the fact that I rebuilt the engine and suspension on the red one it never seemed like my project. This one does and though it might not seem like it at times I am on a limited budget.

looks good, where did you get the heat wrap that is on the wiring loom

I asked Dan to heat wrap the loom as I've had a few problems with heat damage to wiring in the past. Also I know Pete did a little extra work to it as well. The heat wrap is fairly standard stuff i think

Pete you're a star! And hasn't Gary done a great job with the paint and new panels. It's precisely what I was hoping for in the looks department. And once we've repaired the exhaust blow I've asked Dan to raise the boost back up to 1.2 bar same as before.

Well Im very pleased at the outcome myself.

Those of you watching need to remember that there are still two major components still to come........

1. New Recaro seats

2. New wheels.

Then it really will look good IMO.

Well its gone:cry::cry:

Guy turned up on time this morning and I helped him load up... no problem. He put two short planks down on the end of the bed. I drove the car on to them with the front wheels just on the bed. Got out. Winch attached and the rest is done in 2 minutes.

The Recaros are at Dans workshop so hopefully DAN/ Bob can get some pics up as soon as they are installed.

The 200mph goal is still on... but not just yet. I think Bob's wallet needs to recover first:ohmy:

So thats it from me.........................................................expect to see some pics of an orange and antracite written off and rebuilt slicktop shell draped in out dated carbonfibre on another thread soon.:whistling::whistling:

Now where did I put my glasses down?????

:D:D:D

looks sweet,

i love the twinz rear bumper with the clean 99 spec look. i would love that bumper on my car but i dont think the gloss black on my car would really do it justice.

my only quible, and dont take it in a bad way is that im not a big fan of the series 4 spoiler but that is just my opinion and it may well do you a few favors in terms of stability trying to get to those big numbers.

What recaros are you going for, factory fit or newer after market type.

oh and please keep us updated now that it has left Pete's capable hands.

i wish i had the time/funds to push my project though this fast.

seats you say???

Nice one Bob.

Im pleased to see Dan and his team are getting on with it.

EDIT....

Just the wheels then:yes:

another pic of the seats. Hoping wheels will be here in a couple of weeks :)

This is what the dyno graph looks like. Only running 1 bar of boost too :) Not only that I reckon it's gotta weigh 3 or 4 hundred kilos less than my red one :) yes it is a hub dyno but pretty good figures I think :cool3:

Low and behold.... They were!!

Wheels arrived from Japan just in time to get some Rubber on them before today!!

Which was Bobs first outing in the car.

Trackday at Silverstone.

It was a good day out and the car behaved very well.

There are only a couple of minor issues to address.

The track was damp in the morning with several people spinning. That kept Bob in check a little too.

After lunch the track had dried out and some quicker laps were seen. There were several very quick cars on track and lots of real interest.

Here are a few pics of the new wheels ( very smart and nicely understated IMO)

Also some pics of the day in general.
