Hi all,

Got this prob with my aircon. Hard to describe so i made a video of it so you can hear the sound thats bugging me. It's a kind of squeal noise that cycles.

Only happens with the aircon switched on, and the sound is coming from the glovebox area. I had it re-gassed last summer, and the sound was already there but not so much. Re-gassing didn't stop the squeal. Already the aircon is not very cold...

You can hear the noise start at around 14seconds into this first video.

I have had an issue with my a/c but that was down to a metal pipe springing a leak and dumping the new gas into the atmosphere....

......I have no idea what that squeek is on yours mate but this was one suggestion I got from JeffTT about the lack of cold air (before he saw the broken pipe)...

"lack of cold air could be due to a sensor fault opening the heater matrix at the same time slightly which cancels out the ac."

Otherwise, with the engine running and the a/c on, look at the pipes on the left hand side of the engine, near the battery; there should be one which has a glass "spy hole" near the re-filling nozzles. If you can see the liquid or bubbles flowing past then you have gas in the system; if not you need a re-gas. If you can't see the refridgerant flowing, and since you've recently has a re-gass, you too may have a leak.

As Jeff advised me, there is not much in the way of DIY you can do with the a/c so your best bet is to find a mobile a/c specialist and get him to take a look.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

When you say only does it with air con on, do you mean if its on Econ mode (i.e air con off) and your have you fan on for standard air circulation the noise stops?

Behind the glove box is the blower fan, but surely that would squeel regardless of air con on or off if the fan switch is operated.
